The other day I took a walk around Oakledge Park, which is a park in Burlington that runs along Lake Champlain. One section of this park features the Forever Young Treehouse, which was the world's first public universally accessible treehouse. It was a joint effort between Forever Young Treehouses and the city of Burlington. Forever Young Treehouse, Inc. is a Vermont-based non-profit who builds treehouses that are accessible for people who struggle with mobility. A short path leads you toward ramps that zig-zag down to the treehouse. It also serves as a lookout onto the colorful foliage among the trees that line the lake. The polygon-shaped lookout area is literally built on a tree; a tree comes up through the middle and holes in the roof accomodate the bifurcated trunk.
After my walk to check out the treehouse, I walked down to the cove. I stood on the rocky shore that overlooks Lake Champlain. It was windy and cold, so I was surprised to see a man swimming in the water.
