Hoping from the bottom of my heart, have a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones and a happy New Year's Eve. Well nothing, this time I bring you the review of my visit to the Museum of Currency in Cuba. A capital reference par excellence.

Hola amigos de hive, es un placer estar con ustedes nuevamente. Ya estamos en fechas de festividades por Navidad. Por eso, antes que nada, quisiera darles un cálido abrazo virtual a cada uno de ustedes. Esperando de corazón, tengan una maravillosa navidad junto a sus seres queridos y un feliz fin de año. Pues nada, en esta oportunidad les traigo la reseña de mi visita al museo de la Moneda en Cuba. Un referente capitalino por excelencia.

I must admit that at times I had ideas of assaulting the place. As if a chapter of Casa de Papel were. Much of my curiosity about the museum came from watching the aforementioned Netflix anthology series. That I had created a somewhat distorted image of what this venue would be like. Since I focused on the image of a factory and completely forgot that it was a museum. That previously was a bank.

Debo admitir que por momentos me vinieron ideas de asaltar el lugar. Cómo si un capítulo de Casa de Papel fuese. Gran parte de mi curiosidad por el museo, me vino gracias a ver la antológica serie de Netflix anteriormente mencionada. Que me había creado una imagen un tanto distorsionada de cómo sería este recinto. Ya que me enfoque, en la imagen de una fábrica y olvide por completo que era un museo. Que con anterioridad fuese un banco.

Cómo habrán visto en las primeras fotografías, la entrada de este lugar es monumental. Ciertamente, en el pasado, fue uno de los bancos más hermosos de la capital cubana. Se especula, que aquí, hubieron cuentas bancarias de figuras prominentes del ámbito político estadounidense, la mafia y de artistas de Hollywood. Todo eso durante la etapa de la República. El lugar se divide en dos pisos, con vista al público. El ala inferior, y la superior. Las alas interiores se encuentran cerradas.

En ese mismo piso, también podemos apreciar la colección de monedas antiguas provenientes de nueva España. Todo esto adquirido cuando Cuba era colonia española. También se vislumbra la colección de medallas obtenidas por la oficina del historiador de la Habana. El pabellón a las condecoraciones y títulos cubanos, dónde se narra la breve historia de su origen y formación. Además de la explicación acertada, del proceso de acuñado de monedas.

Saliendo del piso de abajo, nos dirigimos al superior. Dónde radica una colección de billetes de las distintas épocas de Cuba. Aquí se puede apreciar la evolución del billete cubano de todos los tiempos. Que va, desde finales de la colonia española, la república, y la nueva república establecida por Castro. Un detalle particular, es como cambian los tamaños, colores y figuras históricas que encabezan los billetes. Todo esto a conveniencia del poder dirigente de la nación en cada momento.

Having explored this vast world of numismatics, I must admit that the history of the Cuban currency is interesting in capital letters. Explorado todo este basto mundo de lo numismático, debo admitir que la historia de la moneda cubana es interesante en mayúsculas. Además la atención del lugar y los cuidadores son excelentes. Eso sí, debo recordarles siempre tener cuidado si vienen, respetar sus indicaciones. Ya que algunas piezas por su valor no pueden ser fotografiadas. Por eso amigos, si se dan un viaje acá, ya saben a qué rinconcito ir.
