It was a calm, pleasant morning. Cádiz was still sleepy but started to receive a golden colour from the radiating shiny star that appeared in the sky. It is a nice feeling when the winter morning sun can reach you and warm up a bit. Now we are approaching summer, but the morning that is greeting me today is completely different. No sun, no golden colours, just clouds and rain. Well, it is raining already for a few days. Remembering this morning walk from Cádiz is the only thing I am willing to do right now.
One of the first things that I did that morning was go down to the reception and buy a cup of coffee. Breakfast was also offered in the hotel but we skipped it as we wanted to go out, see a bit of the city and eat something on the street. The evening before we saw several bakeries so the plan was coffee, walk, bakery, packing and leaving the hotel. I squeezed between that plan a short visit to the roof of our accommodation to see the towers of the cathedral from this perspective. Too many roofs. We should check it out from the street.
This kitty was also in motion, no time to lose. Let's go and walk around, breathe the salty air and wander through the streets of this city.
In one minute we were already at the little square in front of the Cathedral of Cádiz. My husband always jokes with me, in every city we have to find the cathedral 😂
It is how it is when it is sunny:
Maybe you noticed, there were some wooden stalls, like little houses. It was a street market - in the sleeping stage during the day.
However, it was more lively the afternoon before. The sky was still blue but the street lights already took the responsibility to give light to the city.
Same place but with a few hours of difference, with a completely dark sky and illuminated palm trees, stalls and Christmas decorations. You guess, we also walked during the evening... it was late when we arrived back.
Back to the sunny morning :)
We took the path by the sea toward the Castle of San Sebastian. We could reach it by that narrow path.
Two gates to pass... but where is the door? I wanted to be polite and first knock at the door.
Let's try with the second gate.
Neither here I found a door to knock at.
{some Door Monsters ate them?}
It's better we turn back and explore more in the city itself...
An old map could be of help maybe in that task!
Reading that old map wasn't of help. I didn't know for example what this building was...
... or where this passage would take us (don't worry, no hidden portals in this post)
In one moment I recognized the already known building, the cathedral, but this time we observe it from the other side.
I also knew what this tower was as the girl at the reception desk recommended visiting it. Torre Tavira was here to teach us a bit of history and offer some nice views from its top. Too bad it was still closed. We didn't want to wait until 10 a.m. so we kept on with the little morning walk through Cádiz.
her post.We saw several of these entrances, decorated with colourful tiles, however, I didn't take more shots. @livinguktaiwan made many more and nicer photos of these doorways and brought them here in
The walk ends here with the City Hall and the decorated square. The same building, actually the decoration in front of made a different feeling the evening before. More cheerful and with a lot of people, still enjoying the festive days and Christmas holidays.

Thank you 😇
It is such a lovely view of the sunrise.. Those wood houses are cute. It should have been better if they were open and you show us the market too hehe
!PIZZA
Every sunrise is lovely but seeing it over the sea is even nicer. The market was open the evening before, I passed by the stalls but didn't take any photos. I visited too many markets those days around Christmas hahaha

very nice place,i like place like this,i know your trip must be very nice. I just found out that I actually like coffee too😀😀
have fun there
Oh, enjoy the coffee you too then 😃
The trip we made this winter was very nice, thank you :)
Such a beautiful walk and tour of Cadiz, I love early morning walks i find the colors are so beautiful at that time on a nice day
Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk, its my pleasure to host it and see all the posts each week from all around the world, including yours, if you have time visit some of the other walks this week there are so many interesting ones
Early morning and walks are cool, though when I go to sleep late it's a bit difficult to get up early for a walk (I mean earlier than I have to start with the usual things and work). It was on our trip this winter so we made the best that we could 😇
😍😍😍😍😍📸🤗 How beautiful to travel between your lines ✍️
Hey Nina!!!
@mipiano you had a smart choice instead of spending your time in the hotel. walking in the morning is a thing very helpful for your health, and emotions because the weather and air are very cool and fresh. Besides you can spend more time seeing many scenery on the street.
Well, when on a trip I don't like to spend time just in the hotel room :D
We were leaving later, for the next stop so we were exploring the city one afternoon/evening and the next morning.
What happened to the doors? Maybe they rot since around the sea wood only lasts if it's kept under heavy maintenance.
Great shots. I wanted to see a portal to some time in time, maybe on the next adventure.
No, they didn't rot. Must be some other explanation 😂
{I have to leave the portals to "descansar" a bit, you know, they can get angry and throw me who knows where lol}
Beautiful Cádiz 🥰
It is such a stunning city… loved wandering the streets.
Great captures 😎 the cathedral is definitely worth visiting. They are really landmarks in big cities.
Thanks for sharing.
Have a lovely day 👋🏻

Jackie 🤗
We loved Cádiz too, especially as we could see it during daylight and also in the evening. Those Christmas lights were so cool in every city we visited during the evenings, but I like to see those landmarks during the day too :))
Yeah, they are indeed nice spots to visit, the cathedrals.
Thank you for stopping by, I hope you are doing well. 😇
Yes… during every moment of the day, Cádiz is something special. We lived there just over 1 year… ok… during covid and most of the time we couldn’t go out. But the days we were allowed. It was magical.
You are welcome, getting there… 😉😊
Have a lovely day. It’s sunny here. So beautiful…
Beautiful Wednesday walk, what a charming town, I like the period buildings and the type of architecture
The colorful little houses in front of the cathedral look so good, surely they will be highly visited businesses
Beautiful shots, thank you very much for sharing with us.Hello dear friend @mipiano good day
The little wooden houses - the stalls were cute. They look like sleeping little buildings hehe
Cádiz stayed as a nice city in our memory with its architecture in the old town and the sea all around :))
What a wonderful place to visit. I am pretty sure we will be relaxed in this amusing place and it seemed that there is serenity there.
Everything is fantastic! I like the art of the cat, it's perfect!
The cat simply wanted to come to this post hehe
The morning there was full of peace, maybe the pace of life is like that always or it was just because of the morning. The evening showed more life and a lot of people.
Golden hour checked!
Blue hour checked!
Lucky you! 😉
Forever in love with narrow streets, it's funny how people usually stop talking when passing trough as everything seems so loud, even the quietest whispers.
10 a.m? Wait, wait.... What time was when you were already there? :D
6,7?:p
Haha, we arrived one day earlier. And although we were around in the city in the evening we slept enough to wake up in some normal time to take this morning exploration :D You know - less Hive when you travel so more time to sleep lol
Less phone!
Cathedrals are stunning , hubby can keep complaining 😋
And a not-perfect internet connection in the room haha
😅
Probably they support vacay without screens. 😂
Oh, we should pay them more for that additional feature! I didn't think about that in this way. Thank you! This was an eye-opener! 🙌
:D
Pleasure was mine 😅
What a beautiful place @mipiano! I still don't know Cadiz but soon I will. For a matter of paperwork at the consulate I will have to go and I will experience these wonders that you show me. Thanks a lot!
PS: I loved the photo of the mural of the cat!❤️
Enjoy Cádiz when you go there. There are two parts, we were in the old town, so I don't know where you will have to go to do the paperwork. Anyway, if you have time, visit this area where the cathedral is ;)
I managed to find a cat haha, even though it is just a mural, but counts as a kitty :))
I have to go to the Argentinean consulate, because my mother was left without a proxy there after the death of her cousin a week ago and I will accompany her to appoint a new proxy for what could happen, but I will stay the whole day. How much time do you think is necessary to travel around Cadiz?
I suppose I will be travelling after the summer.
I loved the kitty!❤️
I am sorry for the loss in your family...
A few hours I would say for Cádiz. You can see in advance what are the best spots to visit so it will be already easier and more organized for you when you are there! ☀️
She was my mother's cousin, but as I had no cousins she was like mine too. Very young...
Thanks for the tip, yes I will organise myself with a map, I'm very good at that! Thank you very much! Good night!✨
Maybe the gates have not doors because the are portals to other reality mirror to this one and you are not in the real world anymore 😳😂😂
.... Beautiful places and pictures by the way
Oops, that can be true what you are saying. So what should I do now to get back to the real world? 😱
Scream loudly help? Or socorro? Or simply whisper those words?
👌🏻
☀️🥂
Wow - what a beautiful city - looks like a fantastic place to visit !

Nice street art LOL
Hahaha, if you visit Cadíz one day, avoid that promenade by the sea :D
👍
Wow, the architecture of Cathedral of Cádiz looks so wonderful.
always love to see unique design of buildings in europe.
Great post, thanks for sharing
I usually love to visit cathedrals, some of them are just "normal" and others, like this one, are marvellous!
I just LOVE that cute cat graffiti .... weather did not look so bad. Definitely Cadiz goes on my (already long) travel bucket list !!
So, a growing bucket list of places to visit :D
The weather was nice, indeed. Right now (and not in this city) it's raining already for days hehe, but it's cool. For change 😂
Tuve la oportunidad de estar en estebello lugar en 2008. Que bonito volver a verlo. Saludos amiga.
Sí? Me alegro que hemos visitado el mismo lugar, bueno, no en el mismo momento 😅
Saludos igualmente :)
Truly a magnificent place, and the photos underscore that!
The winter landscape, though stark and cold, has one key feature: the low humidity gives the photographs a spectacular color contrast!
You are right about that contrast, though winters are not so cold here, but still, a difference is felt :)
Que preciosura!.😻
Gracias ;)
