The future - Collapse and Hope

in Wednesday Walk19 days ago

What can we expect from such an unpredictable area as the future?

Only a few can predict what the future holds; we can probably speculate and draw conclusions based on past experience, statistics, and observations of the present. Perhaps in some crack in reality, like a flash of light in a dark room, some truths of the future can be grasped. What this artist saw and painted in this enormous mural may be one of those moments of seeing into that mystical area. The title of the work is The Future: Collapse and Hope.

As you can also read from the top of the mural on the right, ARTENBITRIR, it was painted in one of the previous editions of this art festival, held every year in this town. Maybe it was just a coincidence that I was seeing so many murals in today's walk connected to this festival from the past editions... However, the fact is that tomorrow starts its XII edition, 2025. For the next four days, the artistic activities will have the spotlight in the streets of Petrer. I can probably visit some activities just on Saturday (maybe), as all the other days I will be occupied with other things.

The reason we were there was that we left our car at the car mechanic's workshop to have the oil changed. I have driven exactly 20,000 kilometres in 5 months, and the engine oil has to be changed at that rate. It is about taking good care of our vehicle, which is, btw not very new anymore, so it lasts longer. Although they told us everything we would have to change besides the oil, it will be a fairly high cost, but that is for another topic. Now I want to take you on my walk, which we had while we waited for the call from the workshop to pick up our car.

First, we passed by that large building with the mural I already showed you. Then we entered the narrow streets of the old town, and that is where I am taking you today. We came across the Parish of Saint Bartholomew the Apostle and the tourist office right next to the church, with some crochet works - what you see on the facade.

We took random, narrow streets in the old town, not really aiming to arrive at any determined place. Just walk through the streets, leaving the destination open to the future. It took us to a little, charming square, Plaça de Dalt.

I think I was here for the first time now, in this little square. I need to get to know this whole area better, as there are interesting details to see. For example, a mosaic on the facade of an old building.

Or a piano bench, but I have already seen the twin of this bench in another park last year. You can always find a bit of encouragement when you need it.

And cats? Can you always find one?

Lately, I was missing them; I didn't have much luck in meeting random furry friends on the streets. This ginger kitty, on the Plaça De Les Animes, was quite friendly, though.

Walking there through the streets of the old town, I saw one already familiar mural. I also saw it (I think shared it too) last year. Music and the piano keys mark their music at every step of mine.

My today's walk, as you can also notice, 😂 was fully devoted to Artenbitrir murals from the past years. I am curious to see the new ones when the festival finishes. :))

Oh, this one was so cool. The details from it are awesome. I think they are pieces of tiles, painted and glued to the wall.

You can recognize this one from the beginning of the post. Here we were again, in front of The Future. Collapse or Hope, what shall each of us choose for our future?

Beautiful walking and paintings... Artists are doing a fine work there..the city must look really nice...Where is this event happening?

I also loved those murals! :))
This art festival will be held on the streets of the town of Petrer, which is in the province of Alicante in Spain.

En Alicante...ok... gracias!

I fell in love with so much art... the cat but above all the phrase on the bench that is a piano... illusion, I love that word!!!! And that added to those murals... I'm like this😍

The cat was cute, so nice patterns on his fur. And I absolutely love that bench hahaha, would take it to my home if I could 😂

You didn't try to get it out of there... someone help you!!! Ahhh that can't be done!😌

maybe painting the chairs at home with white and black stripes is the solution 😂

I see it as more viable... at least you won't be chased by the police.🤣

Good evening @mipiano, thank you very much for such an entertaining ride. I'm already waiting for the publication of this year's murals.

And I'm going to answer the question, I'd better not. 🤣

Good night @mipiano.

Good evening! Ahora sí coincidimos con el saludo 😂

Answer to the last question?

Buenas noches @enraizar

☺️👋

That crochet works is so artistic. It brightens up the neutral colors of that corner. Love to walk on these narrow streets too and think of the place's history. We really wouldn't know the place more unless we explore it on foot; like your experience that led you to the little square. Interesting murals were seen along the way too.
