Went for water, found...?

This Sunday we went with a good friend of ours to the mountains, Aitana. We visit that place many times because there is a water spring, Font del Molí, where we fill the bottles with fresh water. We have been doing it for years and I probably mentioned it here more than once. It's not that we couldn't drink tap water at home. We can, but it has nothing to do with the freshness of that other water that comes out of the mountain.

We were very lucky this time. Sometimes there are people filling many bottles so we have to wait or we give up and just go for a walk. This time we arrived when one man was carrying the last, filled bottles to his car and greeted us. Maybe he could read my mind, as before I could ask if there was someone on the spring he stated that we got there in perfect time.

The three of us (my husband, our friend and I) took out the bottles from the trunk (we had 24 in total), climbed to the fountain and started to fill them. At that moment a couple arrived with a huge number of empty bottles, to do the same. 😂

Though I felt a bit of pity for them as now they had to wait for us, the luck we had was confirmed.

It can't be felt from the image, but the water is so cold. When summer, it gives refreshment but now, when it is winter, I don't even want to touch it. I leave this "work" to my husband.

If it is considered as work - change to the next empty bottle when one is filled.

What could I do in the meantime...? Find the info board with a bit of history. It explains a bit the importance this fountain has had since ancient times. We know that water means life and where there is good water there is a possibility to form settlements. Apparently, in Muslim times there was a settlement here called Ondara.

This water was used for human consumption, and also for the livestock that grazed here during the summers. There was also a flour mill, which is still here today but not used anymore for that purpose. I would gladly show it to you but I should not enter there (a few years ago it was still in an open area, but maybe someone bought the house and made a fence so I didn't want to trespass). However, to get an idea, you can see it in the photos from the information table.

There is also an explanation of how the water is infiltrated, through which layers it goes through before an aquifer is formed and then the water slides down until the opening in the surface - this spring.

Another luck - the water slid quickly into our empty bottles so we could take an additional walk with our friend in the surroundings. He is also a musician so we touched on several topics, concerts, teaching and family... This place was loved and frequently visited by some writers and musicians in the past too, as it seems that Óscar Esplá composed a symphony, inspired by this mountain. I learned about it from that info board and searched for that piece when I arrived home.

If you are interested to hear it, click here.

We didn't have too much time for the walk though as the sun doesn't reach this side of the mountain in the afternoon.

But this condition - colder air, shade and the proximity of water is perfect for...

For?

Yes, for mushrooms!

The Little Grey Hood wanted a new story but I just let her know these mushrooms are not so representative examples for celebrating a #FungiFriday party.

They popped out from a cut tree trunk that was lying in a field. My company was waiting for me in the distance, they did not come near to meet these little white growths.

They looked like white, soft marshmallows. Marsh-mush-mallow-shrooms. 😂

More marshmallows, on another side of this tree trunk, but I didn't try/touch any of these. No need, as I had some snacks with me, actually my husband brought them for me.

It is not a good idea to walk with me if I am hungry.

Wink wink!

Yum yum!

Bye bye!

If you wanted to know which specie they were, try this out: https://www.inaturalist.org

They might even be edible ;)

Oh, thank you for the link. That's an interesting page, I bookmarked it. 😃
This is a quite common mushroom, though I just liked to call it Marsh-mush-mallow-shroom, for fun :D

Then it definitely should be edible :))

You're welcome :)

You know how they say (I am paraphrasing):

Every mushroom is edible - some of them just once...

or something like this 😂

Yep :) the Czechs are actually devouted mushroom pickers, we even have helpline to call when you have doubts if the ones you picked are edible. And we have many similar jokes :)

That spring is amazing! I bet that water is super fresh! Wish we had these in the UK.

It is. Fresh, and cold!

First of all, it is wonderful to be able to drink this spring water, it is marvellous, I have drunk mountain water and it is delicious!

The place is beautiful and the mushrooms, I like their shape and texture. Thank you for that smile at the end and for this beautiful Wednesday walk!❤️

A smile is always a good way to start or finish a walk, and if it is edible, even better :))

That's true, a smile changes everything and if we eat it we will be filled with joy!😆

I love the spring water and the mouth it is coming from, looks like a lion's statue, or tiger? So beautiful color too. Drinking water from the spring on mountains is always amazing. I drank one the last time I went to my state's waterfall and it was so great. Clean water is healthy.

I think it is a lion.

It is important the water we drink, right. And we gladly do this, already for many years.

I am lucky enough to have a fresh water spring in my yard. It puts out a lot of water. My well water comes from the same source, so I have spring water coming directly out of my tap. I don't even have to freeze my fingers to fill my water bottle! 😁

You are winning the label of being lucky hahaha😁
But wow, a freshwater spring in your yard! Lucky, lucky you!

If it is considered as work

😂 depends on who is doing it!

Nothing can be compared with fresh spring water, cookie must be delicious😍

😂 depends on who is doing it!

Sure hahaha 😂

not so representative examples

Yes they are :D

The mountain water is so good! I remember as a kid when we were walking around mountains back in Poland we would drink water from the small streams there :p

Yes they are :D

😱

They Are?

Now I should send Little Grey Hood to the woods, to find more of these haha

Very nice walk you did , I just see the movie Pirates of the Caribbean the part that they found the fontain of the youth and I was thinking wow Mipiano found it as well 🤓😁

Hahaha, I don't know... I still didn't start to see the possible results, if it is that same fountain 😂

😂😂😂

My son jokes that Fortnite encourages kids to eat strange mushrooms 😂

I've informed him which ones are safe and which ones aren't!

Don't eat strange shrooms! I'd hate to miss out on your posts :)

This reminded me of a spring we used to be allowed to go and gather water from in Newlands in Cape Town. Amazing water! And then the drought hit out here and government put big barricades up all around it and we weren't allowed to collect in anymore unless it was at certain times and all that.

That's hectic, huh? When citizens aren't even allowed to take water from natural springs in the area. Scary!

Beautiful post again, M :)

Don't eat strange shrooms! I'd hate to miss out on your posts :)

That's why I had the winking cookie in the end ;)

It is a shame that going to that spring was not allowed anymore, water should be available for everyone, all around the world, right? This spring sometimes goes slower, when it is dry season, so filling one bottle of 6 litres lasts for more than 4 minutes. That is a lot of time to fill all the bottles. This time it was quicker, like a minute and a half for one. The fastest was less than a minute for one big bottle :)

Then we can also take a walk there, up in the mountains, which is my favourite part of these excursions :))

Thank you, lady Dee <3

Excellent view!
It is very cool that water shot, it looks very refreshing. Really for those summer times, it's a relief to find that water.

Summer and this water are the perfect combination :))

Friend, your landscapes are very beautiful. The water from the springs is very fresh and passing through the layers of earth and rocks is very pure. In the mountains that I have in my municipality and in a tourist center called Soroa, there are springs that come down from the mountains. Surely you have enjoyed the pure air of the place, and you are also filled with pure oxygen. Have a nice walk with your family. And the cookie looked at us mischievously. Thank you, good Wednesday to you.😃🌷✨

It is great that you also have a spring close to you. Do you usually take water from there? The cookie may have looked at us mischievously, but it melted down in the end. 😂 I ate it.
Thank you Mamani, and I wish you a nice Wednesday too 🌺

No, I don't drink water now, I only used to do it many years ago when I used to go hiking in the mountains for work. I used to visit coffee growers. I gave credits through the bank where I worked. They were beautiful walks in the mountains. At every step you could see springs. Sometimes you could even see water gushing on the roads. In Piloto, where my husband's family lives, there is an artesian well and that is where the water is drawn from. The water is very fresh. 🥰🌹

Coffee growers - this sounds even more interesting than the water springs hehehe

Though, there is no coffee without water ;)

Reading your post, I felt nostalgic for the times when my mother and father were alive, and we went to the spring to collect water, and also these mushrooms that grow on trees in my Ukraine...

Olga 😇

That is a nice memory, that you could go in the past, with your parents to a spring for water. I suppose there were more available springs than nowadays. A hug 🤗

Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk :)

Have a great day :)

Thank You ;)

Water from the mountains, yes it's been more than a month I don't enjoy it, usually every month I must climb one of the mountains here, somehow I really like and love it

Usually, it is a great feeling, to breathe that air in the mountains. We should spend as much time as we can in nature 🍀

I agree, that way nature is also increasingly friendly to us

The views are so enticing.
I'd really love to taste this water someday 🙂

I really like to see this type of unique and amazing natural beauty places.
