Youre very astute mate! Thais eat an awful lot of fried food which most people don't realise! It's not all Pad Thai and soups! Their favourite breakfast dishes are Jok, which is a salty, rice soup and patongo which are deep fried balls of dough!
Have both dishes at the same time and if the salt doesn't give you a heart attack, the fat content will!
As for the photos, generally no one would say anything here but I did get some dirty looks! I know that I dont like being photographed, it makes me feel uncomfortable too but sometimes, its nice when Im brave enough just to capture the atmosphere and the moment. I guess doing it openly is better than sneaking about trying to get a picture!
I wish some of you guys in Africa would post more 'everyday life' stuff. I think its a great way for others to learn and build understanding and empathy for different cultures and lives, far removed from their own. This is how I began travelling, about 25 years ago now, from talking to people and making friends online. From the Nigerian community here, I pick up snippets and am slowly building a picture but it would be nice to flesh it out, like going from impressionism to hyperrealism!
Stay as healthy and as happy as you can and have a great weekend, mate. And thank you :-)
I notice the fried food a lot. I've been watching the video of this food blogger and this is where I firstly noticed how Thais fry a lot of their food and seeing the food here actually proves just it. It can be culmmulatively unhealthy and it's probably not talked about a lot
Yes, I think there are photographers and YouTubers who have contents on Africans and Nigerians, but you have to actually have a team of people. It's difficult for single bloggers who are using amateur instruments like a phone to actually create content, because of the restrictions.
I can say for sure that people are scared of being videoed for many queer reasons and not just for only security and this is overall discouraging for creators like me..
