The Gunpowder Tower once held back enemy attacks, but now cultural events are taking place here, and I was invited to one of them by a friend of mine. The old city Lviv greeted me with the first snow, and the tower against the background of St. Michael's Church looked very beautiful.
The tower was built in the 16th century and was a fortress where gunpowder was stored. And in peacetime grain was stored here.
I like the majestic sleeping lions on both sides of the entrance. Lviv received them as a trophy from Vienna.
They are like strict guards of the powder tower. Today the Tower was decorated with festive garlands and music was played, which gave the evening Lviv a special charm!
I always wanted to go inside this ancient building, and then I had the opportunity to visit the retro exhibition, which is located on three floors.
I spent several hours there, expanding my vision of retro themes. Everything was here, from table lamps, vases and tea sets .... to clothes and jewelry.
You could buy a lot of interesting things, if of course I would be sure that it would suit me. But my children prefer modern style.
I still tried on some jewelry, an interesting felt hat and asked about the value of some vases from India. She also looked at paintings and clothes brought from villages in Ivano-Frankivsk region. I had fun meeting things that my mother often sang about in her songs about the mountains. Earthenware, ancient chests and candlesticks ... My imagination painted people's lives in those times.
I went outside when it was already dark. From above there was a magnificent view of the red tram, which once had a cafe and souvenir shop. The masterpiece dome of the Dominican Church stood out against the night sky.

Very cold day nowadays, I wonder how I am gonna survive outside whole day on Xmas day, I have made some plans for the day. I have seen lion sculptures before but never seen a sleeping lion. It was cool to see.
