Walking along the narrowest streets of the old town of Athens... #TheLongestTrip

While living in Anavysos, we decided to go at least once to the capital of Greece, Athens. We had to cover 42 km. We found out on Google which bus goes to Athens. But the driver did not want to take cash, telling us that payment is only by card. We drove "hare" because some passengers told us: we don't know how to use a machine. Do not worry. We also have no tickets. That's how we drove )))

There were beautiful views through the window. The course was winding and there were beautiful mountains and beaches. Later, we had to change to the metro and go to the Acropolis station. People were wearing masks, and we wore them too :) By the way: after the war in Ukraine started, they practically forgot about covid! Here we spotted vintage vases on the subway. Greece is a country of antiquity.

And so we came out near the Acropolis, which was visible on the mountain. We decided that we would not go inside the Acropolis this time. And we went along the street to the right of this magnificent building, which led upwards.
Through the fence, I took photos of the ancient ruins and ancient stones that were everywhere.

After passing a cute cafe, we got to the old city of Athens. I didn't even expect that I would again get into such a wonderful exotic atmosphere of ancient Greece. For some reason, I thought that Athens is a big modern city. And that ancient things and areas are here only as a museum. But no! People live here on narrow streets in old one-story houses!

We walked up the steep stairs, looking into the courtyards and alleys. And so I found the narrowest street I had ever seen and walked down it with my backpack on my back. Imagine - I almost turned between the walls to turn back! It was exciting! I hope that in my video you will feel the atmosphere of the old town of the famous capital of Greece.

Unlike Turkey, Greece is a Christian country. And here I already enjoy not the singing of the mosque, but the bells in the churches that ring over the city! You can hear it in the video. And also to look for a moment in the window of the Greek ancient house and see the life of old residents...

My girls had an unforgettable photo shoot on the streets of the old town of Athens. And then we climbed higher and took some photos of beautiful Athens from a height.
We met some cute cats. One of them was gray, just like my EdGray, who guards my house in Ukraine.

We walked the streets of the old town for several more hours, looking at the windows and vases, the shape of the tiled roofs and other architectural details that create an unforgettable unique face of each city.

I imagine how many days it would take to walk here to see the whole city! Unfortunately, I will soon go further on my journey and will not see more of Athens. I would like to live here for a few days...

In the evening, we took a quick walk along the main avenue near the Acropolis. And we climbed the stairs to the famous majestic building, which I will write more about in another post.
We had to catch the last bus back to Anavyssos.

What lovely pictures, thank you for sharing the video where we can appreciate them walking.
I would love to visit Athens, it is a city with a very interesting energy.
It is more picturesque than it seems in the books. I liked that. I also liked the picture of the gray cat.
And the last pictures, when the day starts to fall, and the lights give a spectacular touch to the pictures.
Once again, thanks for sharing them.
Best wishes 😃👍

Thank you for your visit. I love how you described the details of my trip. The gray cat is my weakness. After all, my Gray remained in Ukraine!

Wow such an interesting place so much history

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)

I enjoy walking in old towns. They are all similar in some ways, but each of them has a unique face! They are like people I like and feel attached to :) I miss them when I leave them!

I feel the same about old cities I did love exploring them

I was in Athene 8 years ago. Beautiful city full of history. With this post you reminded me of that great holiday. Congratulations on how you showed it in this post.

Thank you. I am glad that my post awakened a pleasant nostalgia in you. I wish you to return there and experience these wonderful moments again!

Oh my, those are indeed some narrow streets. I love the bells ringing in the background of your video. I spent 6 months in Greece once. Such a beautiful country! I'm glad that not every bit of Athens is modernized now.

Hi @jayna! I am glad to hear about you.
Your nature is similar to my Ukraine. Tall grass, lots of shade and bunnies hopping :) You had a nice walk!

I love older homes, the scenery and the stairs there too. They appear wonderful. 💟

Old towns are truly masterpieces, a unique heritage. Thank you for your visit.

I'm glad you liked :)

Thanks for sharing your walk around Athens. It looks beautiful.

I am glad that you enjoyed walking with me :)

When I was in Athens, I said myself that it is not like the other European cities. What I liked most were that many buildings are just two or three flats, but too old. Any building can't exceed the height of Acropolis anyway.

I think you didn't climb to Areopagus Hill where you would see a perfect view of Acropolis. Those narrow streets should be in Plaka with colourful houses.

I walked only in the old town of Athens near the Acropolis. I liked it so much that I wanted to be there more to experience the full atmosphere of the old town. Thank you @videoaddiction for your visit 💞
