Wednesday Walk at Work

in Wednesday Walk4 days ago

My main job as a Fiber Optic Technician is to provide a pathway for end users to enjoy Internet to be able to gain access to the web. Today, on #wednesdaywalk, by @tattoodjay, I just want to share a bit of my onsite activity. It is not a new thing that without the internet the world is not different from 1872. A very long time ago. These days the Internet is needed to do almost everything. Watch TV, get information, pass information, drive, listen to the radio, secure apartments, get directions, shop, make payments, work among other things. The Internet is highly needed and no-one can live happily without it.

Today, was a deployment of a new splitter box to this axis of Lagos state, specifically Allen Avenue in Ikeja the state capital. As the organization is very keen on providing Internt to every home at an affordable rate within the country. There is need for the subscribers in this axis to enjoy the internet and go on with their daily activities as they wish.

Deploying splitter box and bringing up clients has to do firstly by preparing the cable. Then after the cable has been prepared, the next thing is to get to know which of the cable is has the optical power and then afterwards cascading it to the core going to the client's end with a fusion machine. This process is not at all difficult but very much technical to achieve.

This is the box being completed with a 1*8 splitter to bring up eight(8) individual subscribers
