My #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay is around Lekki Phase ! and its busy road network. In the urban area, a lot of things might result into them having a busy road thereby resulting in traffic congestion. One thing is certain and that is the availability of good road network. However, despite the availability of good road there is still the presence of traffic congestion. In my #wednesdaywalk today the observation of two major areas within the city of Lekki.
1. Freedom Way Linking to Lekki/ Epe Express way: One thing about this particular part of the city is that it is never off traffic congestion. There is always traffic here every day of the week, except midnight. One of the major cause of this is that it links with the major express road. Therefore, a lot of other joints on the road will all converge at this point to access the express road. Another reason is the absence of traffic officers. Though there is a traffic light system installed in the junction. However, people tend to want to either beat the traffic light or want to ignore it which will eventually in most cases result in a deadlock
NB:"The only form of correcting this is to have a proactive traffic officers present at all times"
2. Adebayo Doherty Street: This other part of the city has traffic congestion most times between the hours of 2:00PM and 4:00Pm. The major cause of this is the presence of a college on that street. Every parent drive to the school to pick up their wards. In as much as the road is just a two-lane-way, they park on the road leaving just one lane for both incoming and outgoing vehicle into the street.
N:B "The only way to control this is to have a parking space off the road where wards can be guided to meet their parent and they can connect without blocking the road"
These two areas traffic
