An entry for the #wednesdaywalk challenge hosted by @tattoodjay.
Well, I thought I was walking to a footbridge. I did a little bit of research this week for today's walk on a new town that I'm currently working in. There were a few prairies and wildflower walks near the town, but I was short on time and needed to cram one in to also grab lunch. A bit of research mentioned a footbridge that went over a waterway known as Beaver Creek. Excited for a new share, I headed out from my new workplace to check it out.
After finding a parking spot near its location according to the Google Machine, I walked to the river to scout for the bridge. No luck. After taking a few photos above, I noticed a concrete rupture across the creek.
Uh oh...that doesn't look promising. I then walked over to an area directly across from the ruin above to see what was going on. It appears that I was a few too many years late to traverse the famous historic footbridge over Beaver Creek.
Oh yes, in typical fashion, especially on my 45th birthday on the first week of a new job, I would run into this. Harbinger, anyone????
Yet not was all lost; the area had some beautiful views of the neighboring bluffs:
The creek:
And of course some wildflowers:
Yet another Wednesday Walk in the books. It felt good to get outside today; with all the uncertainty I'm feeling (and being another year older), it was good to check out a new place and take some photos. For me, anyway...
Thanks for checking out my post. I hope you too had a wonderful Wednesday!
what a beautiful place loved it
Loves of gems in this area I enjoy sharing...thanks for stopping by!
my pleasure I had fun reading it
Amazing. I would say you are quite lucky to have such a view while walking to a footbridge. Here, we walk on a footbridge every now and then but it isn't quite adventurous as your one. Really liked to know about it. There is so much more in this world.
Thanks!
First of all, happy belated birthday. Hope you had cake! Secondly, do you know what happened to the footbridge?
Well thanks! I was curious if anyone would read that :)
I talked to a friend in the area last night and she mentioned one of the flash floods took it down a few years ago. The whole "pop up" storms the past few years have really taken a toll
That's a shame. It makes me laugh how they just leave things there. Then again it makes for an interesting story!

Here is a link from what I found... looks like it would have been fun!
It looked good but not sure I would have walked over it. I like bridges but I get a bit wobbly. 😀
A shame the bridge was no longer there, but still a beautiful walk
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)
No problem, and thanks! More to come - I do like having this weekly community in mind come Wednesday to think of other places to explore...so thank you!
Always looking orward to see more :)
and yes I really love how the Wednesday Walk has grown, people looking for new spots to explore, or just being more observant about the places they normally walk :)
have a great day
you as well!
