Hello everyone.
Another #WednesdayWalk challenge
Last weekend we visited Travnik city. It is located in central Bosnia and Herzegovina, about 90 kilometers west of Sarajevo. Travnik was capital of Bosnia from 1699 to 1851. Beautiful city.
Here we visited Travnička Tvrđava ( Travnik Fortress) or Stari grad ( Old town).
Weather was very pleasant. We were able to walk around the city, had some rest and come back to Sarajevo.
First look at Travnik Fortress.
Last time when I was here there was no water under the bridge but now there was plenty of water. It was nice surprise.
Water source near the fortress is very important.
You can see whole city from here.
Inside the fortress there are different divisions. Most probably some of the parts were public and other more private.
In the middle you can see tower. Inside the tower there is museum - we will see that later on.
There is garden like area in the fortress. As I understood here held some manifestations and events.
Sundial that was installed here in 2023.Actually here there are two sundials. One is that was used in Ottoman time and other is modern sundial. This was second and third sundial in Travnik as there was already one on the Hadži Ali-Begova džamija (Hadži Ali Bey Mosque).
It was cloudy so there was no sun for the sun clock.
Look on the city.
It was cloudy as you can see.
Entrance to the tower.
This is like museum with some traditional tools, clothes and photos exhibits and historical information.
Second floor.
You can enter in here as well.
As you go to the back of the fortress there are different areas and levels so you use stone stairs to climb.
Last part of the Travnik fortress. I think this is some closed garden or private area.
More stairs.
Since fortress is in the hill it takes about 6-7 minutes walk to come to the fortress. It is uphill walk up to the Travnik fortress.
And now more climbing to do.
Beautiful view.
Also good place to rest.
This is garden like open part of the Travnik fortress.
More stairs.
Here you have to be careful since the stairs are a bit steep.
This was our weekend in Travnik and very enjoyable walk in city and through Travnik fortress.
We had really good time.
