Share Our World: Upper Antelope Canyon Hike

in Wednesday Walk2 years ago

I am so excited to get to share this hike with you! I have been living in Arizona for 15 years and I finally made it to Upper Antelope Canyon.

I have seen pictures of this beautiful slot canyon and wanted to go for years. @crazy-andy is from Solvenia and made it before me.

We started our family reunion (Lake Powell Vacation) in Page, Arizona and on Saturday, August 13, 2022 the whole family went to Upper Antelope Canyon together.

The tickets are expensive. It was worth it for us to have this experience together.

We went with Antelope Slot Canyon Tours and met in Page and they took us on a bus to the canyon which is not too far outside of town. Antelope and other slot canyons are on Native American lands and so you have to have guides to see the canyons.

Here is the opening of Upper Antelope Canyon.

This hike gets a 8/10

Sara's RatingPart of hikeMy thoughts
1Access to trailYou have to buy an expensive ticket and get bused to the trail head
2DifficultyVery easy walk through the slot canyon
1ViewsGreat, as a photographer I would have liked a little more time to take pictures. There were lots of people all around
2DestinationThe whole canyon was the destination
2Time on trial.57 miles and 59 minutes in the canyon

Here are some cell phone pictures

This one is my cell phone background right now!

I have started changing my background pictures to be of my most recent trip. It is so fun cause I am reminded of the trip each time I look at my phone!

The family in the canyon.

This is what it looks like as we exited the slot canyon. There are a bunch of other canyons in the area like Rattlesnake, Owl, Lower Antelope, Cathedral and Mystical. I would really like to some more of these slot canyons.

One of my favorite parts of the trip is the bumpy bus ride back to Page. Here is my brother Jay faking the bumps and then we hit a really big one.

I remember seeing these wonderful rocks in one of the documentary and was stunned to know that this is the products of work of our nature. The colours and such smooth structure is amazing. I can imagine how it might be when you are standing there and seeing this everhting in person.

Hi thanks so much for your comment. It was wonderful. How the light hits it is so beautiful.

So cool you could make the visit there a family thing, and WOW I have seen photos and videos about the Antelope Canyon and always wanted to visit there so love this post and the photos which are awesome

Maybe one day I will get there

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)

Yes, when you come out west you'll have to add in some time to Southern Utah/ Northern Arizona. There are some great national parks and other cool canyons in this area.

Ohh yes indeed if I ever make it there I will plan time to visit a few of the parks and canyons there

The photos are beautiful. It suxh a cool spot. I imagine that it's even more stunning in person (obviously). It definitely looks like it would be worth spending the money to see it.

Yes, now I really want to save up and go do a weekend trip and see some of the other canyons up there.

Whoa, what a unique place! I would love to visit that place if only near to my place.
Plus the fact that you are with your family
Perfect!

You are right it was great to see it and with my family. :)

Wow! I was mesmerized by its beauty. The natural color blinded me with its alluring wonder.
Yeah, it was a perfect destination for travel and it's worth it.
Your photos are perfect for wallpapers. So good!

Wonderful, looks like a painting, no? I hope you enjoyed it a lot there.

Yes, it does look like painting, a beautiful creation indeed.

Wow, thanks for sharing. The Antelope Canyon has been for many time in my bucket list, and I hope to be able to visit it someday.

Hi @coquicoin I hope you get to visit someday!

😄😊🌻

If I ever get to States, this is one of the things I would love to see.
All the shapes, and lines are just amazing!

Yes, there is so much to see in this area (southern Utah/ Northern Arizona) of the US. Here is a collection I made of the Geology of southern Utah/ northern Arizona

I love it how you guys always go on these family trips together, so much bonding! How many siblings do you have, if you don't mind me asking? Are you the fifth in the family like me?

There are 9 children, 8 were on this trip and I am the 7th.

wow!! nearly the baby of the family!!! A full family reunion must be a massive affair. We would have around 30 if and when that happens which so far hasn't yet, your's must be a lot bigger than ours!

Yes, since there was limited space on a houseboat it was only siblings and significant others. It would be really big if all the children and grandchildren were there. You are 5th, how many siblings do you have?

We're six, got a younger brother, he's the only only one who is still aboard now. The last time we had a sibling reunion was in 2019, next one should be next month when he comes back for holiday!!!

Oh yay that will be great. So Soon.

That's marvelous! I can't help but be amazed how wonderful nature is whenever I see photos of this canyon. What a lovely entry for #WednesdayWalk!

Thank you! Yes, I need to remember the Amazing Nature community too.

You're welcome!

Wow! My cousin who lives in Missouri recently visited this spot and I’m so so jealous! One day I’ll get over there for some beautiful hikes.

These rock patterns are like an abstract painting. Love it :)
