This place is called Naper Settlement in the middle of Naperville Illinois.

Here they preserved about 8 acres of space with historical building like this church. You can even reserve space for weddings here.

Elsewhere on the property there are exhibits with historical actors that show you how settlers used to live from different eras of time.

Here they show you how to set print the old fashioned way and press it in a printing press.

This used to be the old city hall over a hundred years ago.

They show you how to hammer out a horseshoe here.

Here is where they show you how to churn butter and live in a log cabin.

The stone carver station was closed for winter but they usually show you how to carve a headstone or make an ornamental cornerstone here.

There are quite a few historic buildings on the site and in the basement of one of them there is a history museum. Ah the time when Illinois was just a few wagon trails.

The history is mostly about Naperville and this exhibit is about an old bottle factory that used to be here. I like the infinity, mirror effect as an exhibit technique.

Here is a bit of theming about the first railroad that went through the town.

They feature famous figures that are from the town i.e. this WW1 veteran.

I was rushing through exhibits by the end and I didn't realize they trained divers here too. The final test was probably in Lake Michigan.

Here is a piece of an old brewery that was torn down to build suburban houses.

More soon on this area. Thanks for looking :-)

Great place to visit to see and experience everything up close.
Good to see they preserve history like this.
Have a wonderful day!

Butter churning is tough work lol. Not as difficult as the blacksmithing though.

I wouldn't mind trying some blacksmith tasks out. Would be pretty cool 😎

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :)

🤦

Can't get enough of them suburban houses

Fun museum. I like pioneer period museums. Nice to see ones that are kept up in good shape.

Now we need skyscraperization of the suburbs anf townhomification of the farmland.
