Wednesday Walk - Goose families and other critters by the lake.

The goslings are now quite big and gawky.

They are grass eating machines. All this grass is helping them grow pretty quickly.

The goose family with the older goslings are starting to show markings around their faces.

This guy's feathers are starting to turn into the black and white markings. They are pretty tame right now and approach me as I sit on the bench taking pictures. I suspect someone might have been feeding them.

Just about a month ago they looked like this. They grow up fast.

The two goose families hang out together, they both jumped in the water when they spotted a predator off in the distance.

This is the predator. Earlier the larger goose family had seven goslings but two were lost after the first week. I suspect this guy might have been the reason...

Squirrely was safe up in the tree keeping an eye on the fox.

The robins didn't seem to care too much about the fox. They just kept hunting for earthworms.

Later on in the walk I spotted a nice colorful bluejay.

Fortunately this jay decided to sit still long enough for a couple shots. Here's an update on the Canadian goose families by the lake for this #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay as most of this post shows birds this is also for the #featheredfriends community by @melinda010100

happy #wednesdaywalk, who knows if the baby geese will be ready to start flying by next week.

What great shots! The detail on the head close-up's really fantastic. I noticed the gooselings this morning on our lake at the same stage of growth. I never get to see if they're friendly because I'm always walking my dogs. Got some great, grainy distance shots but close-ups aren't happening.

Good Post:)

Yeah the dogs really scare the geese off. These ones seem to know when a dog is on the leash its safe but once they saw the fox without a leash and a human to mind it they jumped right into the water.

The bluejay is very beautiful! These young birds grow up very fast in one month! It’s so nice to see them transforming into adults. That fox came by himself, not in a pack. That’s good!

Cheers.

Only the coyotes run in packs around here.

Please arm yourself with bow and arrows for protection!!

They are only dangerous for cats and small dogs lol.

It's amazing how fast birds grow! Our chicks are gawky teenagers at 6 weeks...

Yeah by end of the month they will probably have flown off to another lake.

I like your lots of featheredfriends collection. Nice photography
