Here is a little miniature museum setup at the Tucson Botanic Gardens where a model train passes by major monuments. These are the Taos Pueblos in New Mexico. Here are a few scenes from Arizona for this #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay
Here is a miniature made out of shelf fungi and turkeytail fungi. It depicts Pierce Mill in Washington DC waiting for a name to sponsor it.
Here is Old Faithful Inn from the Yellowstone National Park. Kind of reminds me of the movie The Shining.
Now a shot of the San Pedro river where we hiked and my daughter got to play in the mud and water.
Along the way we found a Christmas Cholla cactus and it even had a tart but sweet prickly pear on it. You need a lighter to singe the tiny thorns off before eating.
Now for a strange bronze statue of a sajuaro cactus as interpreted by a stoned artist lol. It houses some smaller cacti and some bird nests.
Cacti start blooming in the winter in Arizona. During the summer these blooms would get decimated.
As it stands now it is already 85 degrees and this is when it is cooler. It goes well over 100F in the summer here and you have to do all your hikes at 3am to avoid heat stroke.
The desert is inhospitable and only the toughest things survive here. This makes for a nice suburban lawn covering here instead of grass that uses too much scarce water.
Most people around here opt for a sandy but dusty zen garden look. My daughter is really interested in this tumbleweed mower, it seems like a fun toy to her.
I've been hoping to see an epic AZ sunset with all sorts of colors in the sky. So far one has yet to materialize, maybe they aren't as powerful in the early springtime.
That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)
Fun little train set up 👍 I remember lots of arroyos not much water haha
Yeah this place is like a dried up cow skull, though during the summer monsoons all those arroyos (washes) block traffic and people trying to cross them in their cars get washed away. They even made a "dumb motorist law" where you're on your own if you try and cross a flash flooding wash.
Cute and artistic miniatures on display. There is another artsy work in the area with unique form. Summers must be terribly hot here. Have you gone hiking at 3am?
Yeah we went to the dragoon mountains super early to avoid the terrible sun. Its nice out with lots of wildlife out. Another fun place to visit is the sonoran desert museum and the tohono chul gardens that have lots of wildlife.
