It has been raining for a few days now in our area and Paris, our fur baby has been stuck in the house for a week now. This made her gloomy and really wanted to go outside especially when she is hearing kids playing in the rain. Thankfully, last Wednesday, the rain stopped so we did a night walk to also exercise her body.
So I took her leash and harness, brought some recyclable plastic bags for her poop, just in case, and stroll around our village. We lived just outside the city and we are on a work at home set up. Something that we truly appreciate because of the traffic congestion going to and back from work. Imagine, I will spend almost 3 hours in transit everyday. I think there were some that spent 5 to 6 hours in transit.
During our walk, Paris will occasionally sniff the pavement. I think it's the smell left by other dogs. Good thing is there is no poop on the ground where she sniff. But I need to closely pay attention because there are stray dogs roaming around will just poop anywhere. There are also cats roaming around but I think they are pooping somewhere hidden from plain sight.
At around 7:00 PM, the lights at the clubhouse were already switched off. I think, they are preserving energy consumption and also to limit people from playing basketball and create noise at night so that people around the clubhouse may rest and sleep well.
The village we live has inclined roads like this one. It's a good road for those people that wanted to jog uphill and downhill. However, there are some areas with poor lighting and sometime it kind of hard to see what your are stepping into. I remember one time, I almost step into a frog.
Up ahead beside the road is Paris' favorite spot. There's a grassy spot where she will sniff, walk around and then rest a little bit. I guess, the uphill road tired her out. This is one of reason we usually walk around the village at night. Paris is a chow chow and has two coats and her hair is quite thicker around her neck. And this one makes them prone to heat strokes. So for me, I would not want to risk that since we live in a tropical country.
Across the road is a coffee shop, a water refill station and a food stall. The coffee shop was established recently and it is quite a nice spot at night to relax and feel the air on your skin. The coffee shop serve hot and cold coffee and also has pastries like muffins and brownies. And I think they also have other refreshments like lemonade. The food stall is like a combination of a convenience store and somehow a Korean restaurant. They offer unlimited pork and beef for you to grill outside. The only thing I don't like in this set up is that since you need to cook and eat your food outside, different insects and pests occasionally shares with your food. This building is the closest commercial building in our village. And I think it is a km or two from our house. The only public transportation here are the tricycles, but they are not allowed to roam around the village unless you specifically called for them.
From where I am standing across the commercial building, I can see the night light of the village. Since the village is located outside the metro, you won't be bothered by traffic noise and pollution compared to city living. There are lots of cicadas and fireflies at night because the village is surrounded by trees and tall grasses. You can also see the stars in the sky when there are no clouds, something that you will rarely see or not at all when you are in the city. I can say these things because I have spent around 7 years living in the city and I just moved here on January 2019 with my wife. And you can already notice the huge difference between the two.
Here is our fur baby begging to go outside again. 😅
