I was eleven years old, when we moved from the village of my grandparents to the city where I currently live.
My parents took me to a brand new school, and we were the first pupils to attend classes there.
To be honest with you, although it brings back memories as a kid, I never liked how it was built.
It made me feel like a prisoner inside big blocks of concrete.
No wonder why, as soon as the bell rang, we ran out of the school like little animals that had been captured and were finally set free.
In the following photo, you can see an old building that was fully renovated and refurbished, and was transformed into a school with character.
I think that pupils who go to this school are more motivated to learn, because of the unique layout of the building.
At least, they shouldn’t feel like prisoners in there.
While walking, I noticed an old derelict building in a very bad condition.
I am surprised that this building has not been demolished yet.
It is in need of urgent restoration and extensive structural work, so that it can accommodate people or businesses again.
Otherwise, it will soon collapse, I think, and this makes it a dangerous place to go near, both for children who may play there, and adults.
It doesn’t even have a roof.
Following the example of the school building in the top photo, it could perhaps be a good idea to repair this red building and give a new lease of life to it.
People with the right knowledge and skills, and a lot of passion and love for old buildings could make this building useful again and save it from being demolished.
Talking about buildings and construction, I would like to show you these pavement slabs.
I think that they fit well with the environment and maintain the traditional character of old pavements.
