I started off this month with a pair of whiny Wednesday walk posts (here and here), because the weather was unseasonably yuck for this time of year (although, given I live in New England, that's pretty much a given at any time of the year 😂). Then last week I had a glorious day of Blue Skies, Bees, Buds, and Blooms which more than made up for the previous two. This week I have a combo - nasty, unusually chilly & windy weather while I ran through the yard as fast as my gimpy body could manage wandered around taking pictures of the flowers that have popped up. Which is what led me to the title of, Gloomy Blooms. 😊
And for a change, I'm actually doing today's daily prompt for Hive Blog Posting Month which is...
Go for a walk & share at least 5 photos for Wednesday Walk
Wednesday Walk Fort Tabor.Speaking of and before I get to the pictures, a quick shout out to Wednesday Walk host, @tattoodjay - be sure to hop over and take a peek at his latest,
As for these photos, as per my usual FYI - these were taken in the yard of my Durham, NH home with my Nikon, also using my tripod. All were resized, then cleaned up a bit with PicMonkey - mostly the exposure and sharpness, but with a few other tweaks like vignette filters for the corners here and there.
Gloomy blooms for Wednesday Walk
1. The rain was supposed to be gone by early afternoon - however, as soon as I opened the door, I was pelted by some big drops. I went back into the kitchen and called to the eldest (who is still on the couch recovering from surgery) that I couldn't go take pictures as it was sprinkling. Then I realized I didn't have a Plan B for a post & decided to take my chances. If you look closely at the bit of driveway showing in the bottom corner of this picture, you might be able to see a few drops. A closer look at the green grass and you should spot a bunch more dandelions & violets than there were last week.
2. See what I mean?
3. There are already less blooms on our landlady's memorial tree. Oh, and about six years after she planted it, last year I finally remembered to ask her the a name for it - it is a Dwarf Weeping Cherry Tree.
4. But the remaining blooms are still pretty even in the gloom.
5. The gloom couldn't stop these daffodils from almost glowing.
6. Such bright spots...
7. ...on a grey day.
8. This is the first white daffodil to sprout up in the yard this year, but hopefully more will soon follow.
9. And the Bluets are now sprouting nearby...
10. ... as well as some pretty violets, both white...
11. ... and, well, violet colored. 😂
12. A final shot of a bright dandelion near the front porch, and I headed inside. Truth be told, I saw a few dandelions that have already gone to seed and wanted to get a few shots, but the wicked wind and the increasing number of raindrops made me
lazy change my mind. Maybe next Wednesday walk, assuming it's not snowing or something...lol!
Happy Wednesday Walking everyone!

.Wow... Looking at the pictures, all I see is beauty, no gloom. You have a pretty good grasp of the names of the flowers. The last time I had any idea what a flower 💐 was called was in high school...
Thank you for showing us the beauty of your Wednesday, in spite of the rain.
