Snowy peaks and a new reality

in Wednesday Walk3 years ago

I know that people who live in the North would laugh with us saying that it snowed when they are covered in snow for months and we barely got covered by a few centimeters for a day or two... But everything is relevant and if you haven't seen snow for years, you get excited even with this little snow that surprised us three days ago.

We went out just a while after it started, but they were others quicker than us.

And of course the kids of the village were already out. We were targeted immediately and snowballs starting coming from everywhere. Luckily a dad asked them not to shoot the dog... Unluckily no one asked them not to shot us.
This is how Markos ended up, and we were so much worse... At least kids had a lot of fun.

It was late in the afternoon, the sky was heavy, but we were determined to follow our daily route. We started but went back after a while. I did take some pictures though.

Looking on the West, the sun was setting.

Do you remember the mountains with caps from previous Wednesday? Here is how they look covered with snow.

IMG_1913.jpg

It is so cold! The air coming from the mountains is so clean and refreshing, makes me feel alive!

The snow has now melted in the nearby mountains. And today in the early morning walk we could see what was left...

In our path what is left is holes with water.

Someone already misses the snow! The first one in his 4 years life. But it is still somewhere in the background.

It is still very cold. Everyone is looking for a nook. This beauty is a wild cat. She is very good with people, but she prefers to wonder around at the nearby olive groves than being in the village.

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :), I truly enjoy exploring the world virtually each Wednesday seeing walks from all around the globe and feeling I am there and experiencing it all myself, such as I did in your post just now :)

Oh wow, that's a lot of snow! I can't imagine what the temperature will be like... But you know how to deal with it! I don't even know how to walk on the snow! I wouldn't know what to do if I were there, haha!
I hope everything will go nice and smoothly!

Thank you for your kind comment!

The temps have been below freezing point most of the time fit the last couple of weeks and that’s the high of the day at night well below freezing
And wherever possible I stay in and warm and away from the snow but will have to do a lot of shoveling this weekend

Ohh well all good exercise

Ohh well all good exercise

Oh yes! Let's see it this way!
And the spring is not very far away, the days are getting longer and longer!
All the best @tattoodjay!

Yes I am so looking forward to spring 😀

Really gorgeous photos! I thought you were in Iceland when I looked at the pictures!

I wish I was in Iceland! Not now though, sometime in late spring or early summer ;)
The landscape must be magic there, so I take is as a huge compliment!
The mountains of the photos are from Eastern Crete :)Thanks @barracudadiaries!

ooh. I am jealous of your planned trip. My friend is going in November and i am tempted to stow-away!

It is not planned!!! Hopefully I will go sometime and when I do, it will not be in wintertime, but spring or summer, that's the thought!
And now it's my turn to be jealous of your friend, haha!
Have a lovely day!

oh wow! what gorgeous mountains. It looks so cold... but so nice to be able to walk in such a beautiful spot.

says the subtropical living girl.

i miss mountains and wind. Its a long way for us to travel to find such scenery

Have a happy day.

And it is quite cold :)
At least for me, I am not used to low temperatures... But super refreshing (when you know that you will return to a warm house)!

I miss flat landscapes, funny, isn't it?

Have a happy day, too!

i wish we had a better view where i live as i like to take photos of the sunset.

Off to paint today... finishing a snow scene actually.

finishing a snow scene actually.

Haha, that's great!

Global warming?

Well, it is quite rare to have snow here, although it has happened again in the past...
There is definitely a big change, we were famous of having smooth winters, now it is full of surprises. Weird times in general!

Wow snow there I am sure it was quite an unexpected treat. I feel like you in snow, the crisp air makes me feel so alive!

Exactly as you say it, an unexpected treat! I was thinking about you, I remember what you had told me about the snow! I can now say, yay!!! Awesome! Of course, this was nothing compared to the one you had shown us, but for us it was wow, haha!
