Just Missed the Place

in Wednesday Walk16 hours ago

My workplace is far from my home. Every Monday I traveled as early as 4 o'clock in the morning to my workplace so basically it's still dark and every Friday I traveled from my workplace at 5 o'clock in the afternoon so I arrived home at night already. During weekends I just stayed home taking care of the plants, the house, my family until one day I just missed the place - my hometown.

Together with my daughter we roam around our place on foot. Enjoying the green surroundings and tranquility.

That day memories were refreshed as we are walking on the street.

We passed by to one of the tourists spot in our town the Lagbas Ancestral House. Long time ago this house was built by the people of Sugbongcogon particularly the people of Barangay Kaulayanan. This barangay is a far flung one so whenever they come to the lowland they will have a place to stay. This house was more than 50 years old.

Tagging along in the fast paced life sometimes you missed the things that are already there. Just like what happened to me, it was really not intentional but it just happen. I just feel the longing and the loneliness inside.

During my childhood wherever we go is on foot really. While our parents will command us to buy something we had the chance to enjoy walking, laughing together, and just appreciating the place. But the moment the availability of public vehicles was there those little things were gone.

Nowadays nobody is walking, everybody is riding going to where they want to go even if its just a short distance.

Before we were so happy walking together from our houses going to school but now the traffic jam is on the school gate where children are drop off.

The existence of many vehicles today the walking is on longer in today due to being time consuming and tiring.

But at times I just missed the place.

Thank you for reading. Walking is still the best exercise.
