Walking with a camera again

I really miss my camera. No matter how good are modern smartphone, I see the difference. Or it just seems to me...

Anyway, I found out recently that I last used it in May! This should be rectified. So my hubby and I went for a photo walk at the Expocenter of Ukraine last Sunday, on the first day of fall.

The location we chose for a walk is very popular among locals but also pretty far. A huge green area with activities to all tastes. We last visited it with a guided tour a year ago, and I wrote a big post about it. Since then it has become even further. How is it possible? We used to get there by metro, it is fast, convenient, reliable. But in the tunnel of the branch leading to the expo center, a supersonic situation occurred at the beginning of this year. This section was completely closed for the duration of the repair, which should be completed soon. So for, getting there is more complicated.

This 12-meter media sculpture called the Kyiv Whale is made of recycled plastic. It should reflect the state of air pollution with the help of interactive lighting. But I didn't have a chance to check/see it because in summer it gets dark pretty late when the location is closing due to the curfew.

This yellow-blue car is a true London cab! I googled, and this seems to be the LTI TX2 cab. Correct me if I'm wrong.

The cute green dragon sits on the roof of the children's school Midgard.

They even have their own school bus.

Too late for performance. Oops.

DSC09246.jpg

And too late for the bicycle race as well. The award ceremony was about to end when we approached. There were so many participants!

Now on the streets of our cities, you can see young people with prosthetic arms or legs. Despite the peaceful picture, we constantly remember those who protect us.

I saw a cyclist with a prosthetic leg for the first time.

Rotunda and gilded spire of the main building of the exhibition center. It is closed for visits but we got there with a guided tour. The view from the high is worth it.

Ice arena. I doubt it works, even though the door is open. Due to the constant power outages, I don't think they have enough capacity to keep the ice.

DSC09263.jpg

Unlike mini golf which does not need electricity.

DSC09265.jpg

But it is not so popular here. Maybe itstime has not yet come.

Food Court

I remember in my childhood (it was still in the USSR), a popular, if not the only, place of leisure for the townspeople was the "park of culture and recreation".

There you always had 2 problems - where to eat and where to find a toilet. There were never enough of them, and you had to stand in a long line, and unmotivated sellers took things slowly...

DSC09274.jpg

Now we have plenty of both. All you need is to have money.

DSC09275.jpg

Look at the food, it looks very tempting. Now imagine smelling these aromas... We decided to come back later, but looking ahead, we bought more than we should have.😊😁😋

Several events took place at the expo center at different spots. We came across several book publishers' exhibitions. Since we finally began to get rid of the Russian influence, a real cultural boom is taking place in Ukraine - music, theaters, and books.

Look who has joined the party! 😍 Little red squirrel.

You can ride a bike, or you can just hang out in a hammock in the Garden of Hammocks. I didn't spot a single free hammock!

DSC09297.jpg

Or you can rest in a bean bag chair, read a book, listen to a music, or chat with friends.

The total area of the expo center is 286.3 hectares, so it is not surprising that it has its own fire station.

Here! Track for radio-controlled car models. I fall in love with them at a glance.❤️ My husband wasn't very enthusiastic about my idea, but I intend to go back and try it someday.

DSC09313.jpg

There are many different sports locations here. Fields for football, volleyball, tennis, skateboards. There is also a horse riding school, and of course, rental of any equipment.

Have a good day

It is a relief to me that even during the war people are living their lives and participating in fun activities. Although even then you see the reminders of war all around. I'm glad you had a lovely day out with you husband... But I hope you can go back to drive the remote controled cars! 😁

I will definitely return there! 😆

Hi @zirochka 🙂 I hope you're well! I also see the difference, no matter how good a smartphone camera is... But what happened to your camera?

But what happened to your camera?

Nothing. I just didn't feel the inspiration, or how to call it, for taking pictures.😒

Thank you for your good words, @dimascastillo90 💙
!HUG

That's normal, it happens to me often. I lose inspiration but then it comes back... a Boomerang, In fact it happened to me 2 days ago and I'm coming back 🙈

Sorry for my late response @zirochka Have a beautiful day ✨

Beautiful pictures

The picture you posted is very nice. I hope you have a very nice day.

So many pictures, the dragon and the whale is nice!

Thanks 😊

Excellent.

Looks like a great photo walk, love the street food we sometimes get them in our small town with winter markets.
I’ve recently got back into analogue film photography, 4, 70s/80s in my collection now, very different process than digital or smartphone. Photo walks are very deliberate and planned and more fun. The only small issue is sometimes street photography no one bothers about a smartphone but they get twitchy about cameras sone times.

Don’t get me wrong I still shoot a lot of digital and use my smartphone but not in the same way. Smartphone users are missing out never picking up a proper camera.
