The coast is pretty empty these days. Here and there a walker, significantly different than in the spring, summer or autumn months. If you want to observe the sea and nature around you in peace, this is the ideal period. Things you might not notice otherwise, you notice now.
Heart at Materada, Poreč, Istria (Croatia)
The weather at sea can be quite wild in winter, especially when there is a gale. The sea often washes up various debris that humans throw into the sea. It also throws up many rocks and stones that we humans tend to put on the shore. This is most visible on the beaches.
These days, floating logs in the sea of Croatian Istria are a particular problem, which can be very dangerous for small fishing and other boats, especially at night.
Scenes like the ones in the photos above are a very common occurrence along the entire coast these days.
Large pieces of stones and rocks thrown up by the sea can also be very dangerous for infrastructure and facilities located right next to the sea.
The power of the sea is enormous, and as you can see in the picture above, the waves can destroy even strong concrete structures.
There is also a lot of garbage in the sea, and I'm really interested in how this motorcycle helmet ended up in it.
Anyway, we can only admire the cleaning workers and others who will clean up all these trunks and debris and prepare the beaches and the coast again for the next tourist season, which is almost upon us.
All photos were taken in Poreč, in Croatian Istria.
