Week 3 - ‘STRIPES’
Medium - Black brush pen, ball point pen, Micron 01, graphite and ink on A4 size paper
Hey guys 👋
So my works are mostly spontaneous, introspective and involve portraits of ethereal beings driven from my daily daydreams and perceptions. This sketch/illustration displays a similar expression.
Recently, I had been watching Stranger Things season 2 on Netflix and alongside I was working on this sketch too.
Beginning this year, I started working on the #Inktober52 prompts (they are given weekly all year-long) And these really have been helping me brainstorm ideas. Working on a random word from our own view can create a whole new dimension of concepts and experiences.
Initially, I started a random drawing based on the prompt.
After almost completing this work, I happened to notice something about the way the form intertwined in this work. I started connecting the forms with the storyline of season 2; how the shadow monster creates a vine under the twin as well as in Will’s mind, Will’s struggle to purge off the darkness dreading over his soul…!
The branches seen here, then felt to me like those Vines of the shadow monster attacking this being here (Will).
Seems so that all this while I had been subconsciously recreating the scenes from the story.
I’ll soon come up with a more refined digital version of this sketch/illustration.
