Pay Up: My Most Recent Commission This June

Hey Hive,

How far have you gone to get paid? Legally i mean.
When you're about to undertake a job, what are the things you're willing to overlook... At least for the time being?

Lately I've been doing my best (my very best) to create a sort of living for myself using my art and social media as a marketing platform of sorts.
This included trying to post consistently (not successfully), pushing myself, my art and finally, DM Marketing (I'm doubtful its a term but I'm rolling with it).

So it leads to what i am (well what i was) willing to do to earn my keep as an artist.

This was to accept and begin a job without being paid.

Sadly, it has led to me to be at the mercy of the client. It is not a good place to be.

It's really disappointing too because i put a lot of effort into my work. I'm doing my best to improve in every aspect. So i expect to be paid for my efforts and on time no less.

So from today, i will not begin any artwork or commission without pay. It's not professional and it's not fair to me either. Please, if you've been on this end, don't continue, get paid at least a deposit before you begin on any job.

Then to every client out there that gets to read this, Pay! On! Time!

Here's a process GIF of the painting.

So if you liked this post, please do well to share it. I could use the work.

Hi @artofnuel, nice painting! Please see the new rules for posting in OCA.

For a painting like this that looks like it's largely painted from a single photo reference, please also include a link to the photo ref in your post. Thanks.

I would like to but the image belongs to a client and hence should be kept private. Any time I work with non-commercial art I'll be sure to post or link it.
