HAZZAH back in Australia.
we have been Jet Setting around New Zealand for the last week or so, resulting in some rather "behind" posts as i have not scheduled any posts. Im never so organized. Although this year that is my intention to post a bit more.
It was great, i got HEAPS of awesome material for a NZ painting collection. Everywhere i went was all about taking photos of pretty plants and leaves and scenery that i can use for my art.
Today's painting is an older one that i painted from my parents farm gate in Waimate NZ.
Hopefully there will be more to come.
At the end i have also included a few of the snaps from NZ that are going to be considered.
I'll have to change the colours i use around a bit, NZ has SUCH different greens to australia but will see how we go.
Boring Background
I'm Blingit. An Aussie SAHM who spends my life at the ballet studio with my kids and in my spare time i paint.
I can be a bit on and off again with my art, fits of activity where i finish more paintings in a week that i do in 5 months at other times.
I had a hand injury 2 years ago that damaged the nerves in my painting hand. Its been a slow road and i think we are as good as we are going to get. It doesnt stop me painting, but it sure slows me down.
As a rule i have been painting Daily Paintings. They keep my hand in and also stop my anxiety over not being good enough. i have a time limit and thats it. if it doesnt work, i learn something and move on.
Today's Painting is
Today's painting is a small canvas of a road in Waimate, in the South Island of NZ.
Ground: Canvas Panel that is 5 x 7 inches
Paint: acrylic
Colours: Ultramarine blue, black, warm yellow, white, cool yellow, sienna, and a red as well.
Time: This took a bit, like 2 hours, because i had to redo the sky. (artistic license as the clouds met the powerlines and the hills funny and it looked "wrong" translated into a painting.)
Im still not super happy with where the sky and mountains meet the powerline. but i din't want to change the actual view toooo much. trying to stay fairly faithful to the view of the mountain on the day.
However this is the idea behind daily painting... getting things done. rather than spending weeks perfecting things.
Here are some of the photos i took for painting.
Obviously this is not Waitmate. These are mostly more north, so Christchurch, such a pretty city, and over in Kaikoura as well.
Im really looking forward to getting into some painting next week. It should be good.
NZ is so beautiful and has such different colours.
Leading lines is a good photographers technique, you seem to have mastered it in your painting
Thank you kindly... yes they lead in nicely. i was just unhappy with how they cut the mountain but such a small slither. Thanks for stopping by!!!!
