Hello, Hiver friends and art lovers! I hope youโre all having an outstanding day. I'm thrilled to showcase my latest coffee artwork, which I just completed today.
This coffee painting perfectly captures a serene moment at the edge of the sea. The warm, earthy tones of the coffee create a striking atmosphere that conveys a sense of deep reflection. The muted colors of the sunset sky blend seamlessly with the gentle waves lapping at the shore. A lone sailboat stands out on the horizon, a tiny speck against the expansive water, embodying solitude and quiet contemplation. The dark, shadowy foreground suggests rocky outcrops or dense vegetation, offering a powerful contrast to the softer hues of the sky and sea.
The overall effect radiates peace and tranquility, freezing a moment in time with the rich, textured beauty of coffee as the medium. The subtle gradations of color and the way light dances on the water's surface are testament to this. Itโs a piece that demands the viewer to slow down, take a breath, and truly appreciate the simple beauty of nature.
I used three types of painting brushes for this piece, and it took me an hour to finish it. For those who are interested in trying this unique medium, you can follow the step-by-step basic methods below.
Materials Needed:
๐ Watercolor Paper or sketching Paper
๐ Pencil and Eraser
๐ Coffee Powder
๐ 2 small cups ( lighter and darker shades)
๐ Ruler
๐ Clean Water
๐ Rag
๐ Paper napkin or paper towel
Brushes:
๐ Flat Brush /small #10, 10/32 / 8.0mm
๐ Liner Brush #2 / 2/32" / 1.6mm
๐ Filbert brush
Note: Keep all the materials ready before you start painting.
Basic Procedure:
โข Outline or sketch your painting reference.
โข Paint using a lighter shade of the background by creating a beautiful texture.
โข On the middle ground, paint the first layer of the subject.
โข The same procedure with the foreground.
โข Once the first layer is completely dry, you can proceed to paint with a darker shade of coffee.
โข Then add details to come alive of your painting. I used a liner brush for the thin details.
Take note: In putting details, you cannot have sharp lines and shapes unless it is completely dry.
