Art Journal: "Moonlit Sail'' | Coffee Painting โ˜•๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ

Hello, dear Hiver friends and fellow art lovers! I hope you are well and in good spirits. Iโ€™m excited to share with you my latest piece of coffee artwork that I just completed today.

This painting embraces a limited palette of warm hues and soft golds, capturing a serene scene that speaks to the soul. A small sailboat gently glides across a tranquil body of water, beautifully silhouetted against a luminous moon, partially hidden by the branches of a dark tree. The scene evokes feelings of quiet peace and tender mystery, inviting each of us to reflect on the sailboat's journey as well as the soothing warmth of a moonlit night. I used light and shadow to deepen this intimate atmosphere, fostering a sense of calm contemplation and gentle introspection. I hope this piece resonates with you in a meaningful way.

I used three types of painting brushes for this piece, and it took me an hour to finish it. For those who are interested in trying this unique medium, you can follow the step-by-step basic methods below.

Materials Needed:
๐Ÿ‘‰ Watercolor Paper or sketching Paper
๐Ÿ‘‰ Pencil and Eraser
๐Ÿ‘‰ Coffee Powder
๐Ÿ‘‰ 2 small cups ( lighter and darker shades)
๐Ÿ‘‰ Ruler
๐Ÿ‘‰ Clean Water
๐Ÿ‘‰ Rag
๐Ÿ‘‰ Paper napkin or paper towel

Brushes:
๐Ÿ‘‰ Flat Brush /small #10, 10/32 / 8.0mm
๐Ÿ‘‰ Liner Brush #2 / 2/32" / 1.6mm
๐Ÿ‘‰ Filbert brush

Note: Keep all the materials ready before you start painting.

Basic Procedure:
โ€ข Outline or sketch your painting reference.
โ€ข Paint using a lighter shade of the background by creating a beautiful texture.
โ€ข On the middle ground, paint the first layer of the subject.
โ€ข The same procedure with the foreground.
โ€ข Once the first layer is completely dry, you can proceed to paint with a darker shade of coffee.
โ€ข Then add details to come alive of your painting. I used a liner brush for the thin details.

Take note: In putting details, you cannot have sharp lines and shapes unless it is completely dry.

Wow! Just like I snapped the moon partly hidden at our Aratelis Tree, here in our area just no water or sailboat.
