I continue my series of botanical watercolor studies with a rosehip flower.
I have vivid memories about these ones. They smell so fragant and almost around any corner of our concrete buildings in Romania you could find a big bush of these. I would put my nose into it and inhale. It smells like my childhood, it smells familiar.
The odour of something can carry you somewhere far away in the past and makes you feel like you are living in the moment now.
I always start with a pencil sketch.
I create my palette for the first part of the plant.
I wait for it to dry and come back over with different nuances.
I like the slow pace that watercolor makes you adopt. You can't rush. So you have the patience and go slowly.

So beautiful. I practiced to draw a rose flower since I was a kid but I always don't like the result. I already embrace the fact that I'm not good at drawing. This is amazing. You're fortunate that you have this talent.

I was also quite an introvert as a child and still am as an adult so painting was my way of escaping reality. So it was a gift, a blessing, a form of therapy. It still is.

I wish I could learn to paint like you.. It's easy to watch those videos teaching the audience how to paint..but the reality is always beyond expectations.. It's actually hard to paint 😂 this is pretty !LUV !LADY

Hey! It is a bumpy road for sure. A lot of unexpected things intervened in my well thought out plan. I am still trying to find the best strategy that will allow me to continue tattoing and also make a living. I might make some changes again very soon.

I will always try and find a way. Even in the hardest days I dust myself off and try again. I have this strong stubborn desire in me to succeed. Here small days .... Summer just was start so I not have more this cold -15 days :))
Ah ok, -15 is cold. I have experienced a mild winter, it was quite new to me. And due to that experience I can say that I still love the snow and the cold once in a while, it just adds charm to the winter season.
But summer is here...so we are all sun bathing lol
Also try to grill something soon when sun is strong ... rainy days are also back soon and it can take a week when sun comes back :))
These flowers are beautiful. They a memory back to me. I grew up in the interior of Alaska; no electricity or running water, in the woods. We used to pick the rose-hip buds for tea, poultice for the skin, etc.

Oh well we are similar, I also picked rosehip buds as soon as I arrived in Denmark in order to make my own jam and tea. I am a hippie at heart.
How was it to live in the woods? I would love to hear more about your experience as I adore forests and dream about owning one of my own someday where I could have a log cabin and spend cosy weekends with my family, kids and pets.
It was a traumatic childhood, however I do take what I can glean from it, such as survival skills and these small stories. I grew up in a cult, so the environment was a very abusive one.
Wow it must have been very tough on you, it is traumatizing to go through abuse during chilhood. I can only admire you and hope that you are on your healing journey from that experience🤗

Yeah complaining is almost always never good. But it can feel good to vent off once in a while, as long as it does not become a national sport.
I like the red face. It is summer friendly as it looks like a ripe smiling tomato terrified that it would be eaten. Oh a good tomato salad with some baked crispy bread. I love to dip my bread in the tomatoes salad sauce. 😅
I'm trying extra hard to chill but I slip up sometimes. Still have to be careful, yes, or it will ketchup to you.
