Interesting exercise. I'm currently working on an oil painting using a dark red wash on the canvas as the starting point. It really messed with my value study.

In oil painting, it is impossible to spoil the picture. After all, we always have the opportunity to apply another layer, covering the lower one. You can't do that in watercolors. : )
You are correct. And I’ve wiped a row of trees twice now. Can’t do that with watercolors.
