Friends and... comrades?
I hope my post finds you alright and sharp (I'm South African. We use British-isms). I've been working hard to try and get a painterly feel and fantasy soft and high contrast and saturation vibe on my art but can never seem to get it and this is me trying to get there.
This was inspired by Loish's style, who is really good at doing what I set out to do. I like how the hair ended up but really kinda regret the skin coloring, shadows, and all.

PROCESS MATERIAL
Sketches
I had a really hard time for some reason trying to get the sketch right. I'd like to pin that on the meds but honestly, I hadn't been doing studies or practicing much. What you see here is the sketches after something like five tries.
This a standard blocking with shadow deepening done right on top of the middle value.
I moved on to doing the highlights and then played around with the levels and tone curves to deepening the shadows because I hadn't done it right in the drawing and painting phase.
As always, I saved the file as a flattened PSD file and imported it into Clip Studio Paint and applied a gradient map and reverse the polarity for the colors on the hair to get a flame effect going.
Final Piece and Bits
At the end of the day, It was work and all work is good work... I guess.
I was worried it would come out looking all none-seriously-cartoony because of the colors, and maybe it does from other peoples perspective but I think the eye and composition saved me... I think.

Skin looks okay to me but I have no idea what you were going for XP Love the hair! :)
I wanted a lighter complexion on the skin but this happened.
