Hello, hello. The other day, I drew a grayscale/black-and-white portrait drawing with MediBang Paint here. I found that I really like doing this kind of portrait drawing, just focusing on value.
As such, I searched for a really nice reference on Pinterest, and came across this portrait. There was not much information on it, though, so I couldn't give credit to who it is due.
Eyes Closed
I'm calling this "eyes closed" just because her eyes were closed and I didn't know who she was. I think what I liked about the reference portrait was that it was dark. Uh, so I was interested to see how it would look like with a white background.
Below are progress shots that I had screen captured while I was drawing. I used only maximum three layers this time, and worked mostly on one layer only.
I played around with MediBang Paint's pencil brush, which has its own advantages and disadvantages in terms of use. The disadvantages were easily fixed with both smudge and brush tools, however.
I liked drawing the hair! I guess one reason I chose the reference portrait was because of the model's hair, and how strands were just all over the place. I had always wanted to improve how I draw hair.
The timelapse
I managed to record the whole thing from the get-go. The drawing took nearly four hours spread over three days. Earlier at around 4AM, I drew a little. The screen was blue screen filtered, but it didn't look like it reflected in the recording.

Some side notes
I wasn't able to draw as much the past few days because I was working on a research paper. My experiments were getting more and more complicated so I had to focus. At any rate, a research on high performance computing that I co-first authored just got published last week! Hooray! If you're interested to read, let me know. :) I'm just not confident sharing my real full name here. LMAO.
