[Timelapse] Alice | Drawing with the Note 10+

in OnChainArt4 years ago (edited)

I've been busy lately, and honestly have no proper time to draw. But stress seems to always come alongside my busyness and I always considered the arts to be something therapeutic. It doesn't matter if it's I who does the art or somebody else, which I would watch.

A few weeks ago, I found my old sketchpad and decided to do some pencil portrait drawings (see here). Two of those were of Alice Vink. Tonight, at this side of the world, I managed to draw Alice again (using the same reference I used in the pencil portrait), this time, in digital. I swear, I should stop drawing at night. My poor eyesight just gets poorer. :P

I also decided to record the whole process. I think since I did this whole portrait drawing sessions, I hardly did timelapse videos. I was honestly refraining from doing this lately, because I have since started working on larger canvases and was scared my phone would overload. Then I realized that I should be frustrated more if it actually does, considering I paid a hefty price for this phone LMAO. So glad it didn't.

Drawing Alice

Many artists seem to love to draw this particular portrait photo of Alice Vink. It's all over Instagram and Pinterest. What I like about this reference is the curious expression on Alice's face. Oh, and the colors!

The whole thing took me more or less 4 hours 30 minutes to finish, according to the recording. That's what I liked about recording hahaha. I get to time myself. Before anything, I apologize for the super sped up version of the timelapse video. I didn't want it to take more than 4 minutes, so it's sped up by 80 times.

Notes

I changed my S Pen's nib a couple of drawings ago, and also just found out that there were actually two kinds of nibs. One was soft (dark gray), the other hard (white), and they apparently have a different feel to them. I changed my nib to the softer one, and it definitely felt smoother to draw with.

Everything was good, until the expensive as heck screen film protector (IDK why everything Note 10+ is expensive; had I known...!) started to bubble right in my very blurry eyes. There are suddenly more scratches, making certain parts glare, and it definitely made drawing uncomfortable. At the moment, I'm waiting for the replacement I'd ordered to arrive, but until then, I have to settle with the banged up screen.

haha, i'm happy that the eyes turned out the way they did in this drawing. xD thank you so much!

That girl is beautiful, I just drew her in a challenge that I am currently doing with 100 heads and she was beautiful <3

omg, 100?! that's a lot! good luck on this challenge! 🧡

and yes! she's soooo pretty. i especially love her big, expressive eyes. 😊

Yes, it's been a while since I wrote them, I'm just halfway there, that is, 50 heads hahaha. It helps you too much, especially when you are starting and you don't have some notions of how the face works in different expressions, shapes, perspectives ... If you have time, take a look to see if you dare!
