I really like the color and playful world of Hundertwasser, where every straight line is ignored. Where no two windows are the same and they are sloping. I used to read a beautifully illustrated book about his life that was unfortunately not mine, i had to give it back. Then when i was in Vienna, visited his famous buildings.
I had a junk analog pocket camera at that time, i took pictures of those houses, but then, as always, the film was scratched out on development, and the photos themselves were out of focus, so they were trashed.
The much-scolded digital world has brought these images back. It’s enough to open Pinterest for a little inspiration. I look through the pictures, sometimes sketch, but then close it and create pictures myself.
I still prefer traditional techniques to digital painting because there is an imprint of the soul in the pictures taken with the traditional ones, which is not the case in digital with few exceptions.
I would have a really good time in a Hundertwasser-style house, especially if i were building it, or at least helping with the construction. I can imagine a cottage made of adobe, or even more so of super adobe, invented by Iranian architect Nader Khalili. Curved and twisted surfaces are thus easy to form.
Last night, the windows were mainly inspired, and the mosaic that surrounds them, made of colored ceramics and glass fragments.
Of course, I couldn’t miss the cat and the bird. The cat sleeps peacefully on the windowsill and never hurts the birds.
Did Hundertwaser have a cat? All I know is he loved animals and nature very much.
Now, let's see how to do it!
I used Fabriano 300g A/4 paper, fixed with tape on a board, Sonnet watercolor, white tempera, gold acrylic paint, Art Pen and white Uniball gel pen.
I drew a pencil sketch.
Then drew it around with a waterproof needle tip pen. It's important, because i didn't want to mix black in watercolor.
I used bright, saturated colors, sometimes with a little white.
I also made sure to put as many contrasting colors as possible next to each other. Harmony can still be achieved, it will only be much more lively.
I started designing the mosaics with white and black pens.
I used a little gold for the final touch. This is not visible in the picture.
It was late at night when it was done. I postponed the photo shoot until this morning.
I removed the dirty and confusing background using GIMP. I wanted to fill it here with a transparent background PNG, but the PEAKD system somehow transformed it into an opaque background. That's why it makes better to set PEAKD to white background. On the other alternative HIVE sites, I don’t know what this picture will look like, but I’ll see if I have time.
I hope you enjoyed my post, i'll be back soon! Have a nice day!

Lovely 😍
That's very pretty :D
I can definitely see his influences in your style. This turned out really nice. I think you did a fantastic job on this one.
Well, Hundertwasser is one of my favorites. But also like Gaudi's houses in Barcelona as well, or decorative paintings of Gustav Klimt. When it comes to techniques, glasswork and glazed ceramics come first. In architecture, alternative, environmentally friendly solutions - such as super adobe, straw house, house built into the ground, hobbit house. If I could start again, I would study architecture or garden and landscape-design.
Aquaponics and Hobbit houses would be so cool to live in and off of the land. I think we have similar styles in more ways than one. I used to love studying architecture when i was in school. I don't have it anymore but i drew a really cool Gothic style Cathedral back in school during that phase of my interests. I wish i still had it.
looks good after painting
Amazing! Such a fabulous concept of hand-made art, and then editing with software!
My favorite image is the last in this post. All the subtle, but smooth, shading. The highlights appear to reflect light and cause a glowing effect. Stellar!
Thank you for sharing this post. Truly a fantastic concept!
Cheers!
Thank you! To tell the truth, i'm tired of digital or AI based modification. They don't add more to the original picture and the picture looses its essence. Pictures of "humans" or animals taken entirely by AI make me feel bad more and more.
