Making of king Fu

Hi everyone i was working on a digital art piece a short while ago and I felt it would be nice to share a tour of my digital art process on this particular art piece. One of the things I struggled with on this one was which drawing software will be well suited to the art style I wanted to create so I flipped through Photoshop, Krista and clip studio paint before finally going with medibang paint pro.

Sketching

Coming up with the right style and character in mind was quite an interesting process, I leveraged on my brush pen pressure sensitivity to control the opacity and line weight while drawing and kept things roughly lose and light, I also drew through the shapes to make for a better understanding of form.

Line art

Drawing in the line work was quite fun, I did go through a series of decision making to decide how detailed I wanted the piece to be. Was also Abit easier because the sketch was quite good and showed the form properly.

Flat Colours

This was all about adding the basic colours of the character skin tone, cloth and weapons, with each one being in a separate layer. I did have a colour guide on how I wanted the colors to be so was also pretty easy.

Light and Shadow

I used a basic light and shadow technic for this art piece did the shadows and lights for different components of the piece in different layers the added a colour layer over all the layers, set the blend mode to add and painted in the rim light with a green reflected light.

Rendering and Background

Just wanted a really simple background with the initials of King Fu written on it and my beautiful signature also engraved on it in black and white...Haha!

All in all it was a beautiful piece and am quite happy with how it turned out.
