I'm back! it's time to participate again in the @Splinterlands art contest, I really liked their characters, especially their monsters, as I said before, they are a breath of fresh air and a refreshment to the art I've been doing so far.
This time I chose Grund, a humanoid lizard with a really amazing story, he is a being full of justice and honor, he is a true defender of those he loves, showing his love with the strength of raising a hammer in each hand.
Therefore I decided to give him my style and make him a little more aggressive, denoting his power and strength.

-Step 1:
Taking as a reference the image of the card, I started giving a new pose to the character and as I said before, a more aggressive style, and from here I was already realizing that the hammers would be a pain in the ass.
-Step 2:
Without lying I had to make about ten sketches of the evil hammers, since what made my life difficult were the tips (I don't know what they are called, but they are the parts that I painted in green) since these were the ones that complicated the perspective of the hammers, and that's why I had to color them to have a clear shape.
-Step 3:
Once I solved the perspective of the hammers ( roughly because I feel it was not perfect) now I had to solve what color palette I was going to use, because I wanted a normal sunny day, with a green grass, but there was a problem, the character is also green! so I had to change the tone of the grass to a more bluish green.
-Step 4:
Again talking about the color palette, the truth is that I don't have much experience painting daytime scenes and since I was a little short of time due to another project I'm working on, I decided to give priority to the character in the scene and leave aside the landscape, so I could also get rid of the headache of the colors in the grass.
-Step 5:
And now comes the new dilemma, how the hell am I going to make that chainmail? well I played it safe, using a reference image as a texture and cropping it to try to give it the shape I wanted (tell me in the comments if it looks good).
Also, I tried to reinforce that feeling of strength in each hammer blow, making sparks from the hammers that get a little red hot and of course smoke from the impact on the ground, this also helped me to avoid detailing the legs and the ground.
I will leave you a GIF with the whole process on it, so you can better appreciate the illustration process.
Tell me in the comments that you imagine when you see this illustration.
See you in a future post!

This is really cool. Reminds me of Thor's grand entrance in Avengers End Game. :)
Right! I was looking for references of people who used two hammers and I didn't remember that Thor did it!
