Hello again precious community, I hope you have had an excellent start of the week, because what I bring you is a dense topic that gives much to reflect and think about (I hope you express your opinion in the comments).

This Way Sir, it is a critique of the modern lifestyle, which only pushes you in one direction until your life and dreams are crushed by the need to produce money. Overwork, debt and consumerism that drain your life and make you a slave to them, dying inside as they tear your happiness apart.

-Step 1:

I started with a quick sketch of my idea, which was quite simple and if it had been just an ink work it would have been very fast to do, but as this was not the case, I didn't try too hard to make perfect lines or sketch in detail the puppets.

-Step 2:

Since the puppets did not have their shape yet defined, I hid that layer and went straight to color the main character and the background, taking as a base a cold color palette but with a predominance of green (a very desaturated and light green) to show an old and sick skin, also generating a direct contrast with the blue of the wings.

-Step 3:

Following the previous idea, I was getting rid of the outline progressively, so I was painting over it and in this way I still had the lines that guided me, but I replaced them with new strokes of color.

For the arrows painted on the wall, I wanted to get that effect that they have been painted quickly with a brush without much paint (like the quick graffiti that you find on the walls of the city) this was achieved using a textured brush and gently pressing the pencil on my graphic tablet.

-Step 4:

Finally the time has come to paint the puppets, sketching them completely and giving them a bird-like beak that could be their nose, this to have some ambiguity since they would be birds plucking someone else's feathers.

Thanks to the magic of digital art, I was free to work the new puppets over the work I had already done and practically without using the initial sketch. So I created a new sketch and filled its shape with a flat gray tone, and then used the pixel blocking tool to continue coloring from that shape.

-Step 5:

Finally come the final touches, ranging from the decision to change the shape of one of the arrows painted on the wall, to fill with something that big piece of nothing on the right side of the illustration, where I had initially planned to make an unfocused puppet in the foreground with a pair of feathers wanting to fly, but I felt it would distract the viewer's view and would not see the flat buttocks of the poor character stamped on the wall.

I will leave you a GIF with the whole process on it, so you can better appreciate the illustration process.

Tell me in the comments that you imagine when you see this illustration.

See you in a future post!
