Hi everyone! I've been working a lot lately on semi secret cat project, so I can't show anything yet. So I'm happy to finally have a new illustration to share! This is a continuation of my Adventure Series project: https://www.kristyglas.com/adventure-series/ It's ongoing and I have many ideas I want to make, just don't want to make any promises yet :)
Usually I work in PS on the Cintiq tablet, but this time I wanted to record the process video so this is my first full painting on the Ipad.
I love night paintings and I used to find them incredibly hard to pull off right, so this has been a really rewarding art journey for me.
Every painting is a little different in it's process, I don't stick to only one way of painting, I prefer approaching it like an exploration and seeing where the painting takes me. Sometimes I take a longer break from a painting and return to it with a fresh perspective. It's important for me to not get frustrated with the process and rather to enjoy each step even if it can be challenging at times.
The shadows followed her relentlessly. The hero ran, glancing around nervously, but the darkness was impenetrable. She stopped abruptly sensing movements in the distance, then she heard the heavy steps and broken branches. Standing still, she held her breath. The steps slowly faded into the void. The hero's heart raced in her ears as she was out of breath. She couldn't see where she was going, but she carefully felt her way around trees. After what felt like ages, she noticed a small growing glow. She was relieved to reach a clearing in the forest. The low moonlight finally illuminated the gloomy forest, shattering away the shadows. It was a breathtaking waterfall that merged the land and sky- the crystal water flowed silently like a liquid metal creating a small river.
The hero approached the river wearily. She crouched and cupped a handful of the magic. Quiet tears merged with the calm river. The waterfall of silence washed away the deafening chaos of the mind. Finally the dawn rose in the sky replacing the twilight.
I've tried meditating many times, but it's hard for me to sit still. Painting tiny details in a painting has become my own kind of meditation even if most of the details will never be noticed. Over time I want to develop my detailing skills further and to start including more symbols that can be discovered as a part of the story.
Because of the file size limits, I had to crop the video into several parts. If you'd like to see the whole video together, I recommend checking out my tweet
