This is a small rough little study I did of one of Rembrandt's self-portraits. I was doing it as example for one of my online students. I prefer to work in oils, but executing it in acrylics allows me to get much further in the limited time available with an online session.
I still have not yet mastered alla-prima in oils yet, so the acrylics are the best option for a speedy demonstration.
I do intend at some point to do him the honour of painting him in oils, which is more befitting an Old Master.

For me oils are still really hard to use, it’s really an admirable technique that takes time to master. This is great. 👌
PS: Rembrandt is one of my favorites artists ♥️
I quite like Rembrandt also. If you take a look over my profile, here and elsewhere, I've done a few of his self portraits. I'm considering to paint a version of the "Night Watch". That will be a challenge.
Oils, keep practising with intent. That's what I tell my online students.Thank you @kitzune !
I saw your works and they are great. Awesome, surely your work will be very good. I hope to have the opportunity to work with oils in the future! :)
It all starts with purchasing some. 😃
great work
Cheers!
