Hola! Yo por estos lados de nuevo!
Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un trabajo de grabado (xilografía) que me encantó realizar.
En principio era una ilustración creada disponible para realizar en tatuaje (que también es parte de mi trabajo) y quería plasmar un concepto sobre la magia que las mujeres pueden transmitir mediante sus manos.
Hi! Me around these sides again! Today I want to share with you an engraving work (woodcut) that I loved doing.
At first it was an illustration created available for tattooing (which is also part of my work) and I wanted to capture a concept about the magic that women can transmit through their hands.
Su nombre "Brujería" viene de mi visión con respecto a ésta palabra, una palabra tan criticada mundialmente que para mí es hermosa. Para mí significa poder, curación, magia, sabiduría, feminidad, lunas, almas, hierbas, plantas, entre otras cosas bellas.
Las manos femeninas y estilizadas como símbolo de la mujer, entre ellas la luna menguante (soy nacida en ésta luna) y una gota que fluye de ella significando el ciclo menstrual, las líneas de fondo son semejantes al cinetismo.
Its name "Witchcraft" comes from my vision regarding this word, a word so criticized worldwide that for me it is beautiful. For me it means power, healing, magic, wisdom, femininity, moons, souls, herbs, plants, among other beautiful things.
Stylized female hands as a symbol of women, including the waning moon (I am born on this moon) and a drop flowing from it signifying the menstrual cycle, the bottom lines are akin to kineticism.
La primera parte de éste proceso es dibujar sobre la madera (yo lo hice con marcador).
The first part of this process is to draw on the wood (I did it with a marker).
Luego a tallar! Socavando poco a pocola madera cob el objetivo de dar forma al dibujo, viendo como va cambiando la textura y como le cambia el volumen y relieve a la madera.
Then to carve! Gradually undermining the wood with the objective of giving shape to the drawing, seeing how the texture changes and how the volume and relief of the wood change.
Y listo! Mi matriz de madera ya está lista para el siguiente paso! Imprimir.
And ready! My wooden matrix is now ready for the next step! Print.
Yo decidí imprimir en varios tipos de papeles que pude encontrar, éste grabado fue parte de una serie de impresiones que hice para un encuentro de diseño compartido con el crew con el que trabajo actualmente llamado "Improvisarte" donde estoy con dos artistas compañeros más.
Aqui les dejo el resultado de la impresión ya enmarcada y lista para exponer y vender.
I decided to print on various types of paper that I could find, this print was part of a series of prints I made for a shared design meeting with the crew I currently work with called "Improvise" where I am with two other fellow artists. Here I leave the result of the impression already framed and ready to exhibit and sell.
