This was the seed work of my project which is still in progress, and I suspect it will be active for a long time. It started a bit more than a year ago, inspired by my moving into this country. Surrounded by mountains, permanent perfectly clean blue skies and the whole lot of history and importance of the romanic style seen in churches and tower-like structures, giving the whole space an air of medieval magic.
'Andorran Skies', 2019, watercolour, 20x25cm approx.
You can really see the importance of the colours, the materials and the feeling they transmit. The perpetual sandy-coloured stone, the recurring granite, really makes this valley special. Feeling part of the chain, of the range, flowing, always movement, up and down, the slope is in the life. There is an ironical sense of freedom to be found in this mountain-enclosure.
I was really struck, smitten I could say when I arrived. I was already inspired by the photos of the landscapes I had seen before I got here, and they appeared on some little sketches and mini watercolour ideas. But yes, I insist, this air can be very inspiring, the views are so nice, the colours are different, possibly because of the clean air you can breathe here.
One of the mini studies/inspirations before I came here, mid 2019
There is more to come from my landscape projections and andorran/pyrenean inspirations. Some photos I have uploaded on my Pexels, so feel free to check them if I piqued your interest.

Detail shot 2, can actually see the brick/stone effect
As I said, this is the first, but more will come. The skies will move and grow, the towers will evolve. But I could not start or go on without this first conception.

Looks very cool. Very mysterious. Watercolours are one of the hardest paints to master. I am looking forward to seeing more.
