Today I wanted to paint on Arches paper. Just as a reward for my good work on portrait 😊

And that needed a subject, I chose to paint flowers.. I haven't painted any in about an year.

This pic of cherry blossoms was in my list for long time. So started working on it

Sketch

Sketch has mainly the 3 flowers in focus and the branches. The rest of the painting is backgound and had to be loosely done.

Process

Started with the background.. all light colours.. manganese blue for sky and Opera pink for flowers.

After it dried, started working on the main flowers. At this moment background was light and it suited well. Should have stopped it here.. but I wanted to make it darker. And it just went bah!

It's doesn't look smooth .. it's all grainy .. lot of granulated pigments.. but looks fine from far. 😐

Thank you 😊🙏

It's strange.. Tipu didn't vote yet 🤔

lovely.... ive never really got into watercolour... its actually a lot harder than it looks i think... hard to erase mistakes without ruining the beautiful paper.

lovely job

Me i paint more in acrylics these days as oils are too much work. (clean up... yuck)

happy painting to you

Thank you 😊

Yes its difficult than acrylics or oils .. but not messy and not much time needed for preparation

I love watercolor for two reasons.. one the transparency effect and two ease of use 😁

My brain works from dark to white so initially it was very difficult to reprogram it to work from light to dark

Still learning 😃

Happy painting 🥰
