Today's painting is this beautiful morning light through the coconut palm trees. The reference of this is a picture I found online .. unfortunately I missed its source link so I can't post it here. The picture had three people walking and one wearing a saree which I retained in my painting. I planned to add the others later. So the sketch had just one person.
Process Painting the band of lights normally need very good paper. The method used is lifting where you actually paint it and then remove the pigment once it dries by applying water and dabbing it out with tissue.
I am using handmade paper, which might tear off its surface with this approach. Can rea more about it in my previous post about papers.
I painted this by softening that area and using lighter values in the bright areas and using tissues to lift out extra pigments. It's painstaking but works.
Added shadows next. Then went on to finish the figure. In a hurry I didn't sketch the second figure.. directly started painting it and then messed up the umbrella.. the last stroke of the painting ... A good lesson learnt.. I still need to develop my patience!

Total time: 90 minutes
11x15 in 440gsm handmade cotton paper
