RE: One's ribs shouldn't be prison bars - David Mitchell

That is such delicious sentence!

LOL! That statement came into my mind intuitively, channeled from the source of all creativity. Always a humbling experience.

So they monitor internet there for tv watching also. That email...that just blew my mind for a moment. Excessively controlling and it has threatening language. Wow. I'm not surprised, but still, that's intense.

Here, no licenses. You can purchase either cable, internet, or satellite tv. Those are contract services, so you agree to contract if you accept the terms of it. Otherwise, you can stream whatever you find on the internet in terms of tv/movies. I imagine that will change, now that you explained this license thing where you are. Also, the fact you have to tell them every year. Bizarre. What a strange world this is.

So I created a account to be in the loop, that's it.

I'm grateful this sort of thing did not exist when I was at uni. I would have had to do the same. I completely get that. The only reason I have a cell phone is due to a job and it was either get one or stay at home all the time, since I had to be on call 24-7 for emergencies.

'it is so difficult to get in touch with you' 🤣

That's hilarious. Like they can't call, text, or email. Too funny. People are so funny.

One of the things said to me by several was, "It looks suspicisous if you don't have a social media presence". I laughed every time. Each of them thought I was strange. That just made it funnier.

I don't need particular reason to not do things, but I need several do actually do them:)

Oh, I like that statement. I completely agree.

So you mean out of spite? ;)

It's actually like this...
All outside attempts to control me result in my refusal to be pressured to do whatever, which has always been my nature, even if I lose out on something, I don't care, I must remain true to myself. I also couldn't see what was so appealing about social media. Since being on Hive, the mystery of what's so appealing has been solved. 😂

Sort:

Tv is trash mostly nowadays anyway. Waste of time really. I don't like that I have to switch TV on certain hour to see certain things. :D

If people don't have any current problems they will surly invent one:)

I use my phone mostly as a GPS and camera😅

social meadia

So with me was something else - people on fb and instagram and on all this other similar portals - oversharing. I feel uncomfortable with that. I am not found of strong boundaries, but I feel that recently people have literally none. 😬

If people don't have any current problems they will surly invent one:)

That's so true and funny!

I use my phone mostly as a GPS and camera😅

Hahaha. Most people do. I'm a bit unusual. I have no internet on my phone. I've never used gps to navigate, just paper maps, my sense of direction, and intuition. Limiting my use of tech began when I noticed how spell check resulted in my losing the ability to remember how to spell words of only seven letters. Things like that annoy me, so I just change my way of being to end the annoyance. 😂 Others are free to choose what they want, so this only applies to me.

I agree with what you've said about these "portals" (what a great word to describe them). Up to the present day, I still find the whole experience of social media to be a bit strange. I'm not sure what's happened to people, but it seems that when smartphones were launched, there was quite a shift in direction. In my opinion, not a healthy one.

I strongly belive, taht if I hadn't had internet in my phone, I would never move further from home than way to work/shop and back, honestly. I am so hopeless when it comes to orientation in space. I mean with a car. On foot, as long as I have a watch and a compass, I can always find my way, even in the woods.

But in the city, by car - I am very grateful for the internet and GPS. I go to new places in the neighbourhood as often as possible. I also recently bought a paper map and am learning to use it again, last time I had one in my hand was when I was in primary school :D

social media(portals - voids perhaps?? / smartphones

I am all in favour to learn all about new technologies and such, but we should be selective as to which of them embrace and use on daily basis. We should be more critical towards our surroundings and be bit wiser if it goes to use up our time, and to what we are using it.

I believe, that people slowly forgetting, that time it's all we have. I simply refuse to believe, if one was actually aware of it - would waste all this time watching netflix and tik-toks. I just can't believe that nowadays that is what we call: 'enjoying ourselves'. Just seem to be so meaningless and sad.

I forgot to add compass. I have used one and own a couple.

I am so hopeless when it comes to orientation in space. I mean with a car.

That's funny. I bet where you are isn't designed on a grid system. That helps a lot when driving. Where I'm from isn't on a grid system, so I've driven in both.

I also recently bought a paper map and am learning to use it again, last time I had one in my hand was when I was in primary school :D

I bought three different maps in 2020. I'm shocked they still print them.

Just seem to be so meaningless and sad.

That sums it all up. My choices stem from way back in 2011/2012 when I saw the direction the world was headed in with tech. I only saw this due to direct exposure in the job I had then. It was at that time that I started to limit, control, and minimize my use of tech. People I know, most of them don't understand. I stopped explaining why because they still don't understand.

I have this semi-apocalyptic vision in my head that energy production is going to shit. Now what? How many of my skills rely entirely on the use of electricity, or rather the use of the phone or the internet.
And the sad conclusion is that most of them!

This thought made me start to be insecure about my skills and knowledge. I'm constantly checking something, learning something, slightly addicted to fresh portions of interesting facts about the world. And I can't bake a cake that I make once a month without the help of the internet. Or in other words, instead of relying on my head, I always go back to a recipe from the internet :D

So my paranoia has gone in the direction of buying maps, writing things down in notebooks and buying food with a long use-by date. I have multiple 20kg - bags of rice at home, cans of every kind, a portable cooker, fishing equipment(although I cannot fish, not really ;D), etc....

Luckily I share my paranoia with my partner, that way I don't feel like a complete nutter expecting zombies on the streets :D

And the sad conclusion is that most of them!

You can alter that if you choose. It's as simple (and difficult) as altering your perception.

As to "now what"..........
Decide what is most important to you and focus on that, as if time were very limited.

So my paranoia has gone in the direction of buying maps, writing things down in notebooks

😂😂😂
Not laughing at you, laughing because I know the experience of all that too well.

Luckily I share my paranoia with my partner, that way I don't feel like a complete nutter expecting zombies on the streets :D

That's so excellent that you have a partner to share this all with.

One way of seeing it for me is that of being a movie. There may be zombies in the movie too, who knows. I've seen a lot of interesting things during my life. 🤣 I figure dragons are probably real too.

In all seriousness, I practice detachment daily and spend my time as wisely as possible on what I have chosen to spend it on.

The time, always racing with him. Heartless brute!

Not laughing at you, laughing because I know the experience of all that too well.

I am glad to meet Fellow - Paranoid :)

Dragons are real!
Komodo Dragon is sooo scary!

In all seriousness, I practice detachment daily and spend my time as wisely as possible on what I have chosen to spend it on.

Hard thing to do, working on that too:)
