Hi!
I wanted to share with you the reason and context of my scribble art drawings I have been sharing with you lately.
I usually do this process with paint. It´s a way I start my paintings. I smudge the background and from there I start bringing out the shapes I see and painting them.
I also like taking a booklet around with me and I can do this process when I´m waiting for something or when I have time to fill in.
Thing is that since last March I went back to my old job as a forest fire fighter because just being an artist is not easy, specially I now take care of my mother who is ill. So during the summer months I´m on call to work in fires and when we don´t have trainings or real fires to fight I can just carry my notepad around and doodle. It´s practical and portable.
So just a few weeks ago I decided to make more if a thing of these doodles because I felt I wasn´t flowing in improvisation as I used to be.
So I decided to do one a day.
To let myself loose.
To not judge myself.
To play.
To have fun and laugh.
To let myself flow.
My work colleagues found this funny and I decided to ask them all for a doodle. Little by little I´m collecting their scribbles and working on them.
I thought a scribble was a scribble but I can start to feel the difference in working with other peoples scribbles.
The booklet I´m using for this is 20x15cm and has 80 pages. I will finish this challenge when I complete the booklet, so, there are still many to come.
This is an example of how I work on this technique with paint.
so I spread some paint over a base and moves it around till I found a perspective I was happy with.
Here is another example from the past:
And another:
And a part of a very large painting I´m currently working on (since 4 years)
And a group picture of a few of them that have this kind of process.
So, back to the pen and paper booklet. I´m going to keep posting my daily exercise in pen and paper.
And this is what I look like when I can´t draw or paint!
I hope this helps to give a little more context to the publications I have been doing and will continue to post.
