This is a small oil on canvas that I had a lot of fun doing. It has some experimentation because at that time I was working on objects (prosthetic type) made of silicone rubber with additions of natural hair. With those objects I then took some photos of myself using them.
For a long time I had many people's hairs stored in a drawer. I had made a request through Facebook (I used it a lot back then) asking people who cut their hair if they could please donate them to me for my work. I got a lot! Different lengths and colors. It was a lot of fun, sometime maybe I will tell the reason for that series called "Blanca". But well, since I had so much I wanted to use it in my work in different ways. Honestly I didn't do much research either, sometimes I get bored quickly with ideas. Here what I did was to assemble the oil colors on the palette, cut the hairs on top, and then mix them to blend with the paint. The truth is that this experience didn't add nothing to me haha, but what I can say is that I had to "release" the brushstroke obligatorily. As the hairs did not adhere to the fabric, I had to make looser brush strokes to make them stick to the surface and not to the brush. I tend to obsess a lot when I paint, and sometimes I feel that my work loses looseness, it becomes hard because I pass the brush so many times. Sometimes I would love to have a more expressive brushstroke but I find it almost impossible. Here, timidly, it emerges that which I never achieve in my canvases, with a little more material charge even, so I consider this as a success haha.
Me llegó muchísimo! Distintos largos y colores.
Before I've read your text I thought those are cracks in the paint for a second!
I think that the presence of green make the red even more 'juicy'. It is realoly cool one! How big it is?
It's super small! it measures 30x24 cm
and yes, here the complementary colors do their job haha😁
