I often wonder how much of real emotion we see on stage.

Is it an art to 'play' love or to feel it for a few minutes when it is needed on stage?

Are we watching emotions on stage or substitutes for them?

Does the artist lend his emotions or does he simply sell them by giving up a part of himself?

If he sells, then how much? And how long can he continue this artistic prostitution?

I am picky, apparently

I hear this very often when talking about films or theatre performances. Very often I say 'I didn't feel anything'. For me, this is the base. To feel something. To be annoyed. To be moved. To cry. To feel uncomfortable, to feel ashamed.

To be surprised!

This is a one condition for me to enjoy a performance. The search for novelty, freshness and surprise can be a kind of addiction. And I admit that satisfying my - allegedly - high demands has become increasingly difficult lately. In fact, I have stopped watching new films because I am able to predict the ending after the first few minutes of the film. I don't like someone controlling my focus and attention. I like to have a choice, I like to wonder and come up with further plot paths. I like to have the time to do that. And today's visual arts serve everything on a plate. I find it unbearably irritating.

That's why I dig up old films, look for theatre performances, operas, ballets. The emotion that grips the actors in dramatic performances is not one-dimensional and easy to name. You are attacked by the whole spectrum. You are almost hit over the head with a overflow or insufficiency.

After a screening, I then feel an emptiness, similar to time after finishing an excellent book. As if someone had cut off a part of my life with a knife leaving me bleeding and helpless. I then need time for the wounds to heal.

That's the kind of emotion I'm looking for.

That the only kind I'm interested in.

I guess that would be the definition of being picky, eh?

(Half of) The Triptych

Today something very special. A commissioned and collaborative work:)

I am attaching only half of the piece today, because the amount of pictures even by my standards is overwhelming:)

Today 1 and ½ of the triptych that started the 'Couples' or 'Pairs' chapter in my 'Art of Movement' series.

My documentation wasn't as meticulous as usual, as I had as many as three scenes to draw, and I was keen not to get overly distracted while working.

I couldn't have wished for a better commissioner @samsmith1971

Sam made me raise the bar really high. And one more important detail - the drawing was ordered for @dreemsteem

Thank you both with all my heart to be part of this!

Is it possible to want more from life?

I hope this week will treat you with kindness.

Nice. You captured the movement really well. Great to see all the stages of the drawing process.

Thank you very much!

To be fair - documenting progress has now become a regular part of my work thanks to hive. I never thought about it before and many drawings were lost in the depths of drawers and forgotten folders. Now my hard drive is bursting at the seams with photos :D

Thank you for popping by!

This is so dynamic, the way the two figures are posed together. Beautiful work, as always 💖.

Hi Ema!
Nice to seen you here:)
Thank you very much for kind words:) It has been challenge, not gonna lie.
Of course - now I would do change or two:))

Haha! Isn't that the way it goes. Luckily, it's usually only the artist's eye sees those "mistakes" 😅 Part of the process.

It's just endlessly annoying! But yeah, part of the prosses. So all I need to do is work more. MOOORE!

Thank you so much for doing this for me. It came out beautifully. You are talented, Strega! People should be lining up to buy your art. So much of you goes into crafting each piece. Your heart, your mind, and your soul! It was very well received. Special stuff. Love you 💗 !LUV !ALIVE
