Hey Hive!
We're back again with another Art Attack! If you're new to the series, this is where I share my drawings and the process behind them. A behind-the-scenes look at my artwork, if you will. This is not to say that I'm very good at art, or that I'm a professional in any way. In fact this is the opposite, and serves as a reminder to how I first started, and lets me track my progress too!
So last week, I shared a textured landscape I drew that I adapted from a youtube tutorial I drew along to from Art with Flo. This piece in particular caught my eye because it reminded me of the Windows XP wallpaper, and a little of the old profile pictures that used to be on XP; one called Blue Hills if anyone still remembers that.
I drew one exactly like this, and also decided to try another and make it different by adding some mushroom houses from Maplestory!
It looked pretty good and I really loved this style so I wanted to make it a series but with different buildings and slightly different backgrounds. So the next one I had in mind was from this game called To The Moon that I played back in the earlier days of my streaming.

It's a very lovely game about two doctors trying to fulfill a dying man's last wish of going to the moon using artificial memories. The graphics look pretty simple but the story is pretty deep and I cried multiple times while playing through it. If you're interested, here's the first highlight of me playing it.
The game really touched me and I thought it'd be a perfect fit with this landscape. The ending has a very nice sunset view that I wanted to immortalise so I tried to do a sunset version including key landmarks from the game like the house and lighthouse.
These were my references:
This was the sketch I did. Just like the screenshots I wanted to include the lighthouse, a rocket and of course the house that is pretty crucial to the story of the game.
First thing I did was draw in the mountains and the hills.
Then I added the sun and some clouds, using the spackle brush that Flo provided to add some effects.
Next was to add in the house and some trees.
I drew in the lighthouse after that which I had to make extra big since it is fairly large in the game.
Last but not least was to draw in the rocket and I tried my best to make it look like the exact one in the game.
Tbh I didn't really liked how this looked and the colours felt off to me. Maybe it was the hills in the background but it just didn't look right, so I decided to try and do a night scene instead, replacing the sun with the moon, and changing the colours accordingly. I took this moon from another piece I did previously and I think it matched pretty well!
I wasn't really sure about the colours but I think it looked a lot more pleasing this way. I think this version looks much better than the sunset one but it was still good to try.
Here's the timelapse:
I'm not sure if I went overboard with the details in this piece but I like it all the same. Maybe not as much as the Maplestory one but I hope it's enough to capture the beauty that's To The Moon. I highly recommend the game for those who like a good story!
Thanks so much for reading!
