Hey Hive!
We're back again with another Art Attack! If you're new to the series, this is where I share my drawings and the process behind them. A behind-the-scenes look at my artwork, if you will. This is not to say that I'm very good at art, or that I'm a professional in any way. In fact this is the opposite, and serves as a reminder to how I first started, and lets me track my progress too!
We're onto another series of Twitch emotes! I've shared about my streaming journey on Twitch in multiple posts and the art I've done both for my Twitch channel and for my viewers. Earlier this year, Twitch announced that Affiliates (such as myself) would get access to many more emotes slots so I was scrambling to draw new ones to fill them for the first half of this year.
There is still one last emote in this showcase and I saved the best for last - the Pew pew emote! This one wa actually inspired by a similar emote I did for one of my viewers who redeemed it using his channel points.
Here's the link if you want to see the progress for this piece.
But after I did this one, it got me thinking of making my own version of this but with a different gun. Initially I was hesitant about doing a specific game-related emote since I'm a variety streamer but since Valorant is pretty much the only first-person shooter game we play on streams I figured it was fine. In Valorant everyone knows who my favourite character is since I play as this girl called Killjoy all the time. Not because I'm a Killjoy but because she has a turret that can do the shooting for you.

Anyway, I'm quite reliant and protective of my bot in-game since it can track enemy movements and shoot them with decent accuracy. Botty is always carrying me in games so I thought instead of a gun I'd draw me wielding Botty instead!
The only problem was actually drawing the bot since it has quite a lot of parts. I traced this concept art I found online as a guide.
For the actual cat face I was going to go for something similar to the one I did previously, and have an angry face like we're out for war. Here's the sketch:
Once I finished the sketch it was time to outline! I coloured my cat in first since that was going to be easier.
Botty definitely took quite a bit of time to colour since I wanted to get all the details and shadows right. I think it turned out pretty well though, and had a real cartoony vibe to it as well.
I did end up changing the angry expression a little bit to make it more anime-like since most of the cat's face is covered by the bot so I needed the expression to be more exaggerated. I also wasn't really sure about the paw placement since I wanted the cat to be holding the bot like aiming it but I also didn't want to cover the bot too much so it was a little iffy. I tried my best and in the end we get this:
I thought it still turned out pretty decent and I'm just glad you could still tell it's supposed to be Botty when it's at 56px or even 28px small.
I think it looked really good and it's probably my favourite one in this showcase. Rightfully so since it also took the most time to get done.
Anyway, here's the timelapse for this final emote:
With that, we're finally done with this emote showcase! This took quite a while and each emote also takes some time, especially with these detailed ones so I hope you enjoyed this series!
Thanks so much for reading!
