Hey Hive!
We're back again with another Art Attack! If you're new to the series, this is where I share my drawings and the process behind them. A behind-the-scenes look at my artwork, if you will. This is not to say that I'm very good at art, or that I'm a professional in any way. In fact this is the opposite, and serves as a reminder to how I first started, and lets me track my progress too!
A while back, I posted about my first time doing a subathon on Twitch for my birthday celebration last year, which is a type of livestream where every time a streamer receives a subscription, more time is added to a descending timer with various rewards after a certain number of subscriptions.
In general, I don't like the idea of subathons or anything similar but since we were doing this for charity I figured it's worth it. We had an overwhelming amount of support from my community and they managed to cap the 24 hour timer within the first 2 hours of the stream! It was insane! But I wanted to do something special and commemorate those who contributed so I made this:
As a reward, I also did lots of art and drew stickers for all those who contributed 5 subs or more. For the chibi head stickers, I had templates for the donors to choose from so they could build their own chibi essentially, with different hairstyles and facial expressions.
But doing this made me realise this could be a new channel redemption reward I could put on my channel so users can claim this with their channel points and make their own chibi head stickers so that's what I did!
So far we've only had one redemption of it which was made by my mod, although another person did mistakenly claim it thinking I was going to draw an OC for him. welp.
Anyway, I let my mod Akuji choose a hairstyle and facial expression from these options and I had a chibi head shape ready as well.
The idea was quite simple, I would just draw their chosen hairstyle and face on the chibi head template I had, and they had free reign over colours. Since it was mostly just me tracing things I made it fairly cheap as a redemption, and it's fairly quick to do on stream as well.
This was the hairstyle that Akuji chose, so I traced it with my marker brush.
Then I cleaned it up and combined it with the chibi head shape.
For facial expression he chose this:
I believe for colours it was a toss up, so I used a random colour picker and we got blue for the hair.
And we got purple for the skin, which made it go from cute to cursed. Perfect for Akuji to be honest.
After that I just added some shadows and highlights to finish it up, and added a white border to make it look like a sticker and voila!
We end up with a cursed-looking smurf. Or I think we agreed on stream it looked like the girl from Willy Wonka after she became a blueberry. I think her name was Violet Beauregarde and she was the girl who loved gum that she ate a piece of Wonka's Magic Chewing Gum and blew up like a blueberry.
Anyway, it was a quick little piece and Akuji liked it, so I'm glad. Honestly these are pretty fun to do and I wouldn't mind doing more, which is why I made it a redeem. Too bad no one else wants them though, oh well.
Here's a timelapse for this one:
